I don't own Avatar: the Last Airbender, Nick, Mike and Brian own it. First and Second season is all I saw because Avatar on Friday nights interfere with Friday Night Smackdown and I only have cable in one room which is my parents. But I do know a little bit about the third season.
For Sokka: Helpless

Sokka wishes his life was back to normal, sometimes. Sometimes he wants to be back in the southern water tribe, taking care of the children and elderly. Sometimes he wishes that he did not feel like he was helpless. Of the group mostly everyone is bender, Sokka has to rely on his own strength and skills in a battle. His little sister is stronger than him. Is it not supposed to be the other way around? He was the older brother, he was supposed to be stronger than her and take care of her.
She makes him feel useless. She grew up too fast. Sokka knows that Aang loves her and other boys fall for her. That is unsettling to him. To him, Katara was still his baby sister.
He remembers when they were younger she used to waddle after him anywhere he went. He thought it was annoying then but he wishes that it was like before.
But he knows that helping Aang save the world is more important than anything. They need to take down the Fire Lord Ozai and he will be damned if he let Katara get all the glory.
