Let's skip to the ending. The lawyer dies and Miku and MMX are unable to retain their kindled relationship (how it ever came to be, I do not have the foggiest). And somehow it all works out. Miku divorces, MMX pays alimony for the rest of time. I, however, have brokered a deal with the lawyer's son allowing access to something. Something good. But not pie. Pie is evil. The pie is a spy.
