"Why don't you just admit it!"

"Admit what?"

"Oh, Gabriella you're not as clueless as you pretend to be. And everyone knows it."

You had nothing to say.

"You like me." She said simply.

"I do NOT like you."

"Like anyone believes that one."

"I don't even know what you're talking about."

"You don't?"

"I don't."

She smirks. "Of course."

"Sharpay…" You plead, wanting to understand.

"Gabriella?"

"I…I have to go." You start to walk away but she stops you.

"Does Troy know? Is that why you broke up?"

You turn around. "We didn't break up." It's quiet. "We had a fight."

"Of course."

"Yeah, but it'll be fine by tomorrow."

"Oh."

"Yeah."

"So…why'd you fight?"

You roll your eyes. "I should have know, Sharpay. Really. You're still in love with Troy."

"I am not."

"Really?"

"Really." She looks away.

"I mean, it's obvious, to be honest. But…he doesn't like you. But you already knew that." Oh, how the tables have turned.

"I don't care. I don't like him. And neither do you."

"How can you see things that you know nothing about?"

"I know everything about it."

"Either way, it's none of your business."

"So...you admit you don't like him." Her smirk is back.

"No! Sharpay…you're missing the point here."

"And to be honest, it is my business. Since I'm the reason."

"You're not the reason!"

"Oh? So there's a reason."

You sigh, knowing she's somehow won again. "No…"

She looks at you now as you start to cry. "Gabriella…I—"

"Just leave me alone!"

She takes a stop back. "Look, I-"

"No! Just…just go."

"I can't."

"Why not?"

"I don't know."

You roll your eyes. "Why don't you just tell me you like me?"

"Why don't you?"

"No, you!"

"You know what, fine! I like you!"

You feel your mouth drop open. And you want to laugh, but you don't.

"Oh, my God…" She turns away, crying silently.

"Sharpay…" You put your hand on her shoulder, surprising yourself and her. The most surprising part is she doesn't move away.

"I'm sorry. Really, I am. It's just…I don't know what to do. I thought by trying to win back Troy everything would go back to normal, just like before you got here. But it didn't work, obviously."

"I…I don't know what to say."

"It's fine, you don't have to say anything. Except nothing. To anyone. Ever."

"I won't." It's a promise.

"I should go." She moves from you.

"No!" She looks at you funny and you blush. "Um…do you wanna, I don't know, go see a movie or something?"

"Like…like as friends?" She looks hopeful.

"Actually, no. Like as more than friends?" She smiles.

"I think that could work." You put your hand out and she takes it, smiling. "Just admit it." She jokes.

You smile. "I like you too."

"I knew it." You both smile.

You don't know it and neither does she, but you end up walking into the sunset together.
