Hawaii Five-0 is owned by CBS. I don't own anything in this story.
Title: Redemption
Author: GX7
Summary: Sequel to Regrets... Chin receives a text from Agent Kaye. Telling him to meet her at the Five-0 headquarters. Now Chin has a chance to redeem himself in his friends eyes.
Author's Note: Yeah I should've posted spoiler alerts for Regrets. But I don't usually do spoiler alerts. And thanks for your explanations on Chin's behavior in the season finale. But from the reaction to Danny's comment, it looked to me like Chin betrayed them all. Plus he wouldn't be allowed to investigate Steve's case anyway. As he would be pulled off the case by his captain. The reason behind this is because it's personal for Chin, and no cop would want anyone who knows a suspect or victim investigating a case involving the said connected person.
Part 1
Chin pulls up to Five-0 headquarters. The place has been abandoned for the last two months, ever since the team was disbanded. He wondered why Agent Kaye picked this place, and how she got inside without a key. While climbing out of the car, he noticed the governor's limo parked nearby Kaye's car. Now he knew who let her inside, it was now governor of Hawaii James McBride. So Chin walks into his former place of business, wondering what the former lieutenant governor has to say to him.
"Why is the governor here Kaye?" Chin asked Jenna as soon as he walked into the main room of headquarters.
"Nice to see you too Lieutenant Kelly." McBride said. McBride was close to his former superior's age. But a year or two younger. McBride still looked handsome in his prime years. Except his hair is starting to gray out. "I'm here because I asked for Agent Kaye by name. It was difficult to convince the director of the Central Intelligence Agency to send her out here, but I managed. I had her call you here for a important piece of evidence that will clear the names of both your cousin and Mr. McGarrett. Show him agent."
Kaye brought up fiancial transactions on the money that was stolen to save Chin's own life. As well as the actual security footage of Steve getting tazed with a stun gun and Wo Fat killing the late governor with Steve's gun.
"As you can see Chin, the evidence was clearly doctored in order to further prove guilt between Kono and Steve." Kaye said.
"Yes the evidence entered into court was doctored. I knew that..." Chin said.
"But you did nothing to stop it." McBride said. "You just let your cousin and best friend go down for crimes they didn't committ."
"You're right... I did let the go down for crimes they didn't committ, and even if I was able to something, I would've proven their innocence. But Wo Fat's influence was so wide, that I couldn't stop him from railroading both into prison. I wasn't even allowed to investigate their cases. Because I am close to both!"
"Now you have a chance to help them." McBride held up his hand to stop Chin. "But where is your true loyalties lie Chin?"
Chin looked down at the floor, it was a tough question for him to answer. Mostly because he swore loyalty to Steve and Five-0. Then he changed sides when Five-0 was disbanded and the people he cared about was either in prison or forced to move somewhere else.
"I don't know anymore..." was all Chin said before walking out the doors.
"Give him some time Mr. Governor." Jenna said. "He needs time to think about the answer."
"He can take all the time he needs. We won't make a move until he's sure of his loyalties."
"If he still sides with HPD?"
"He won't... I think he knows which side he's on... He just needs to clear his head..."
