Wonderful Days
Undoubtedly, though Echizen insisted it wasn't true, he felt happier whenever his Momo-sempai was around.
It was a very fine morning. The sky was shining blue, the sun was sparkling gold. The clouds seemed like cotton candy only that it didn't come in the shade of cherry. The breeze was just right. The leaves of the trees were swaying along with it, and the birds seemed to do so as well.
Echizen appreciated all of this, really.
He was just quite irritated, as the Prince Ryoma Fans Club has been following him all day. Until now, actually, they have been pestering him, and Echizen could not help but be more irritated.
He was not enjoying the match with his Fuji-sempai at all.
And so he found himself dragging his bag along with him as he walked along the silent streets.
As if the gods wanted him to suffer more, rain started pelting. And to top it all, he was alone.
It made him hate the day more.
He swore he screamed as he was soaked by the rainwater.
This was hell.
He silently wished that someone would come and brighten up his day. Take Momoshiro for example.
Did he just think of that?
Of course he didn't.
But he could not deny the fact that Momoshiro was one of the very few people who could actually make him happy, though he didn't show it.
And it was amazing how Inui got hold of that certain moment when Echizen really smiled. Echizen made sure Inui wouldn't spill or he would do something out of this world. But really, he did not intend to do anything. Nada.
So maybe Momoshiro could indeed make him happy, in more ways than one.
But, of course, nothing could surpass the happiness tennis gave him.
But it was different, that joy that he got from playing tennis. It was something that gave him strength, like water that quenched his thirst, like Momoshiro's smile that made him want to live an extra day,
And he thought that maybe, just maybe, playing tennis would somehow make his day a little less like hell.
So he journeyed to the street tennis courts and beat the hell out of the players there. He didn't care if the floor was slippery, if he almost fell and he was soaked.
But the hellish feeling was still there.
He was about to leave the place when he bumped a person.
It was Momoshiro.
"Oi Echizen, what are you doing here? It's still raining. And you're dripping wet!"
"Chiiā¦"
Momoshiro took out a dry towel and placed it on the freshman's head.
"Dry yourself before you catch a cold."
Echizen almost jumped in surprise at Momoshiro's sudden display of concern. He didn't know how, but his hands started to obey his sempai's command.
It was unusual, though. He could actually feel his lips curving into what seemed like a smile.
He then gave the towel to Momoshiro and prepared to leave. He was just about to pick up his bag when he felt a hand on his shoulder. He turned around only to meet the most beautiful pair of breathtaking amethyst eyes. He held his breath for a few moments, gold melting in deep purple.
"Ne, would you like to have burgers?"
And Echizen could only nod and hide the smile that was slowly forming on his lips , lowering his head as he chuckled almost inaudibly.
Screw the fact that it was raining. It was a wonderful day.
Undoubtedly, though Echizen insisted it wasn't true, he felt happier whenever his Momo-sempai was around.
