"I wish…" She trails off, unable to voice the rest of the thought.
"What?" he asks, nonplussed. He has no idea what she is thinking.
She can't tell him that what she wishes is that the person she is pretending to be could be her true self instead of simply a persona that she is using to blindside him.
She knows better than to get attached. It will only hurt worse on both sides when she eventually betrays him. But her caring, honorable, idiot wolf-boy tempts her almost beyond reason. Almost. And for a moment she is tempted to risk everything she has been working for and just tell him…
Someone - maybe even Lang Zi - once said, "If wishes were fishes, there would be no room in the ocean for water."
She is a fool, and there is no room in between the broken spaces of her soul for such a desire to truly take root.
After a lengthy pause she finally answers him.
"… nothing."
