Magneto muses on the end of his relationship with sea captain Aletys Forrester.

Drowning

Though seldom have I been a man
to leap to such a lure,
I dared breakers, trusting you
to bring me safe to shore
But the wave that swept us foundered me
and somehow cast you off
My outstretched hand meets naught but spume
and I am lost....

And now I recall whence my fear of the sea
as its tides disperse my energies
and leave me, like flotsam,
drifting....
