One Last Smile
Maiza was in his "Office" working on the new drug loading that he had to ship to NY. Maiza still worked with mafia business, but in the 80´s, liquor was legal, so he had to work with other kind's of drugs. All the immortal's had been separated since the end of Volstead Act. Checking his mail, Maiza noticed an odd letter, was just signed to him with no sender. He then opened the letter and read it in silence:
Dear Maiza, I hope you´re fine. I´m on New York too you know, I´m tired, but I can´t sleep, would you help me sleep? I know that you get it. I´m sending my address, please come visit me tonight, from your dear friend, Czeslaw Meyer.
Maiza smiled sadly, he was not ready for that request, and even if he didn't want to do that, he knew that only he could help his old friend in that matter.
The day had turned in night and Maiza was now going to the address leaved by Czeslaw in his letter. He ended in a very ruined hotel in Bronx, the kind of hotel where as long as you have money, you can be there; they certainly wouldn't care if a child like Czes wanted a room. He entered the cheap and dirty hotel and said to the manager that he was the father of the child in the room 101, giving a 100 bucks to the manager, he climb the stairs and reached the door of the 101 room. He entered the room and saw Czeslaw laid in bed. The boy looked bad, wearing old and dirty clothes and very skinny; he probably didn't eat it in a long time.
You have sure of this, Czes-kun? – asked Maiza, politely.
When we are sure of a thing in our lives Maiza? – asked the three hundred year old boy.
Maiza smiled and sat in the bed, placing the sheets over the boy, to make sure that he was comfortable, then he put his right hand over the boys head and said:
Good Night, Czes-kun. Have nice dreams.
The boy smiled and closed his eyes, answering:
Good Night, Maiza.
In three seconds the skinny and pale boy no longer existed. Maiza laid his head on the pillow and started to cry, another friend that he watched die.
"There are things that drift away like our endless, numbered days"
Iron and wine
That´s my first English fic, I hope you guys enjoy it. I really love MaizaxCzes friendship, and I guess that Czes deserves his rest.
