Temperance Brennan was a believer in science. Things that made sense. Science didn't require you to believe in the unknown. Science answered questions, sooner or later.
But her encounter with Harry Dresden, wizard, had left her with more questions than what she liked. She had seen him use that hockey stick to fight off, well, a vampire. A real life vampire.
She was asking him about religion and beliefs, trying to get a grasp on what had happened.
"Belief, Dr. Brennan, is not a requirement in my job. In fact belief in one set of standards, often gets you killed."
It was a good thing Booth hadn't been able to come. He would have probably tried to have Dresden exorcised.
