Yesterdays
A/n: So this has been on a sticky note on my board for six months, I figured I'd write it. Blame Kittyclaw. She updated too. Enjoy? It's past!set, by the way.
Jeremie Belpois fumbled with his glasses. They were new and a little too big for his face. Six year old Jeremie could not imagine how much worse today could get. He figured when his mother dropped him off, in the rain, at the doors of Kadic elementary, that his day was at its peak of badness.
But he was wrong.
Miss Angela was his favorite teacher. She gave him books to take home and read every Wednesday because he was ahead of the class in reading. You see, Jeremie, although he was only six, was a very good reader. He loved to read.
"Good morning, Jeremie." The tall red headed woman greeted him, helping him put his jacket in his cubby. Jeremie smiled politely, hoping she wouldn't notice his new glasses.
"Good morning, Miss Angela," he answered, putting his lunch box in the top of his cubby, standing on his toes to reach.
"Good morning, Miss Angie!" The blond turned around, to see one of his classmates, Elizabeth, quickly ridding herself of her bright yellow rain jacket, the matching hat already next to her on the floor.
"Good morning, Elizabeth." Miss Angela bent down to pick up her hat for her. Elizabeth spotted Jeremie.
"Hi Jeremie! Did you get glasses?" Jeremie blushed a bright pink, hiding his face.
"Uhm, yes. I can't see," he muttered. Elizabeth tilted her head, smile never wavering.
"I like them." Miss Angela smiled at them, walking back towards her desk. Jeremie smile brightly, blush still present on his face.
"I like your shirt," he told her. The girl looked down to the purple shirt she was wearing, an octopus smiling, tentacles spread in a cartoonish illustration.
"His name is Ozzy," Elizabeth answered easily. Jeremie scuffed his foot on the carpet.
"That's cool. Did you know Octopi have beaks?" he asked. Elizabeth shook her head excitedly, dark hair slipping over her shoulders and she tucked it behind her ears.
"Like a bird?!" Jeremie nodded. "Wow, you're really smart," she told him. If possible, Jeremie turned an even deeper shade of blush.
"Well, you're really pretty," he told her. Elizabeth gasped.
"I have an idea, Jeremie!" He looked up at her cautiously, pushing his glasses back up on his face. "Let's get married." Jeremie nodded vigorously.
"Ok," he agreed. Elizabeth smiled brightly.
"Kay! I'm going to go tell Mia so she be my bride's maid." She waved and skipped off to the group of six year old girls that had already gathered around Elizabeth's desk. Jeremie grinned, pushing his glasses up on his face.
Maybe today wouldn't be so bad after all.
