Rukia looked up at Renji. "Renji..sit down."
Renji scowled. "What fo--" He was stopped with one of the best Unohana-taichou looks he'd ever seen.
"Renji..sit down."
Renji sat down without anymore objection. Rukia looked up at the moon, the luminous orb seeming to shine down on only them two. "So..it's beautiful, huh?"
Renji looked up, memories of the fable of the monkey and the moon resonating in his mind. You're my moon, Rukia. "Yeah, it sure is."
"I've always wanted to have a peaceful time here..with the man I love." She fell silent after that, her breath catching in her throat.
Renji lowered his head. "Yeah, I'm sure that's--" His head shot up. "Wait..what?" He couldn't possibly have heard her right.
Rukia chuckled. "Yeah, that's right idiot. I love you." She turned her violet eyes on him.
Renji let the words he always wanted to hear course through his bones, his veins..his heart.
"Huh." He grinned. "And here I thought I would be the first to say those words to you." He leaned into her, hoping to taste her lips..
And got a punch in the chin.
