Place: Genie Patrol Headquarters, The Kingdom of Tangu.
So here's the deal: Sgt. Fizz and Kazeem were still hung over from the night before. It had been the first night of Djinnica—the week long holiday that commemorate the creation of all genies. Sgt. Fizz a stickler for all two-hundred and four of the genie rules, which meant that he had no choice but to follow Rule #123.
"A genie must make merry on Djinnica the best way that he or she personally sees fit."
By this logic, Sgt. Fizz was forced to consume copious amounts of cheap genie liquor. Not that he complained. His junior deputy Kazeem was no longer a minor. It had been seven years since he had meant the princess Sophia and was given his position. He was now permitted to enjoy the pleasures of drink. Always an unruly one, he had abused his throat even more than his superior had.
The two genies lay on the middle of the floor sound asleep when they heard a beeping sound. Fizz opened his eyes to see the crystal ball on his desk flash blink red light. This could only mean one thing: There was a rouge genie on the loose, no doubt causing all manor of chaos. For a minute Fizz just stared at it, but slowly he mustered the energy to rise in the air. He hit his head on the ceiling harder than he had the previous years.
"Kazeem," he groaned as he rubbed his head.
The young genie opened his eyes. "Yah, boss?"
"Remember Rule #200?" His speech was loud and sloppy, but no less than Kazeem's.
Kazeem rolled his eyes. "Always put work before pleasure?"
"Yah, that sounds right. Now help me start up the damn carpet. It's gonna be a long day."
They had no idea.
