Disclaimer: I don't own Avatar: The last airbender... hides face and cries
Katara woke suddenly. She sat up and looked around. Something had disturbed her, but she wasn't quite sure what. Aang was fast asleep, against Appa, and with every breath there was a puff of blue air. A loud thump caused her to look next to her, but it was only Momo bashing a nut against a rock. She lay her head back down, and closed her eyes. A vision of her village appeared in her dreams, the children were greeting her at the gate, she ran up to them and laughed. But her dream was interrupted by Zukos face, he was laughing, his scar had turned bright red and was glowing as he swayed gracefully, preparing to launch a ball of fire. Next thing Katara knew, she was on alight. She woke with a start, only to find breakfast was cooking.
"Good morning," said Aang happily as he roasted nuts on a rock above the fire.
"Good morning," she replied, happy that the dream was over. She quickly climbed out of her sleeping bag, and packed it away. They all quickly ate their breakfast, and jumped on Appa's back.
With a lurch they were in the air, next stop, the North Pole.
Aang searched the ground for fire nation troops, and was disappointed to see a village on fire.
"No," he said quietly and shook his head, the anger making his arrows glow slightly, "how could they do such a thing,"
"They're fire nation," said Sokka, ignoring Aang's anger, "What do you expect?"
"I think we should go down," said Aang.
"NO!" yelled Sokka, "They'll kill us!"
"I want to help them. I'm the Avatar right," he said, making a puppy face, "Please?"
"NO!"
Katara sighed as they argued for another five minutes, and by that time they were far form the town.
Hours passed as they flew, always looking out for the fire nation. They seemed to be in the middle of the ocean, nowhere near anything.
"Do you know where we are Aang?" asked Katara, now worried that he hadn't seen any ships or land for the past hour.
Aang said nothing, he blushed, and turned away.
"You don't know! Do you?" yelled Sokka. Aang shook his head.
Momo started chattering excitedly, and jumping up and down, pointing straight ahead.
"What is it Momo?" asked Katara. They all looked to where he was pointing. In front of them was a flying bison.
"Air benders!" the three of them called together.
