AN: Inspired by seeing the trailer 'The Vow', and the hospital scene that took place within it. Expect a lot of heart ache within this story.
Prologue
"I think that the only reason people hold onto memories so tight,
is because memories are the only things that don't change when everybody else does."
- Anon
"Where is Juvia?" Those were the first words that left her lips upon waking up. Everything within the room was so bright, dark blue eyes squinting as her gaze fell upon a young blonde woman. Dressed in a white coat with wispy tendrils of hair framing her face and glasses perched upon her nose, she sat besides her bed – wait, why was she lying on a bed again?
The woman offered a comforting smile towards her questioning gaze, voice gentle as she replied. "Juvia, you're in the hospital... You were in an accident, and have been unconscious for four days."
Dark cerulean eyes widened in alarm at the information, finally taking note of her surroundings clearly. The ID badge adorning the woman's chest that read 'Dr. Huske', the heart monitor making a constant beeping sound, the wires attached all over her body, the white walls and ceilings that screamed sanitary hospital, and…
Her gaze lingered.
...And the handsome young man stood at the end of her hospital bed.
Dressed in green scrubs and with unkempt dark hair that fell across his equally dark eyes, he offered a smile upon capturing her attention, expression soft. "Hey."
She blinked back at him, finding she had nothing to respond with. Fortunately, he continued speaking for her instead after a moment, avoiding any awkward silences.
"Don't worry, you're awake now and everything's going to be fine." His smile widened as his gaze remained locked with her own. "For now, you focus on getting better. Practically all the guild is waiting to see you."
At those words, she frowned. Now, that didn't sound right.
Noticing her less than enthused expression, the man went on. "We had to physically restrain Erza from causing chaos when she found out about your state. She had some of the hospital staff quaking in their boots when she stormed in here demanding they ensure you get the best care - which you did."
Juvia only continued to study him with a blank look, obviously this man was getting confused with names. "Juvia does not know who you are on about. Where is Master Jose?"
The grin dropped.
The young man stared at her with an expression she couldn't fathom, however Juvia could swear he looked almost terrified as he looked at her. Was he alright?
"Juvia." His voice was low, whispered even. "You… know who I am, right?"
She blinked. "Of course."
He sighed in relief.
"You're my Doctor."
