These are some poems I wrote for my creative writing class. None of them are about any one person, or story, but images I see in my head. With the exception of Henry, which is about my cat who I lost last year. Please enjoy.

Abandoned

Sidewalks abandoned

Except a lost little doll

Forgotten, dirty

And missing one eye

Her little girl swings

In a park, all alone

Not one person in sight

Not one creature stirs

Streetlights sputter

But one will not come on

And there in the dark

She is left on her own

Swinging and humming

Waiting and watching

Watching her doll come towards her

Coming to play

Stars

The stars will shine bright

In the night winters air

White against black

Light against dark

Glittering bright

The stars will shine bright

On sticky summer nights

When the air is think and hot

And even when dark is clouded with grey

They will be there

The stars will shine bright

Be it day or night

Always watching

Looking down

They will guide us on our way

No matter what we have to say

Bright protectors, guardians

And the will always shine bright

Black and White

In my

Late night dreams

People and things move

But I am always unmoving

Silent

Henry

I sat on my bed

Holding my head

But no tears would come

And so say some

It was his time

He could no longer be mine

Moon

The moon

She stares at me

Glares at me

An emotionlessly white gaze

Never breaking

Never ending

She glares

Until I force myself to look away

Losing the game

To her relentless light.
