Hi! This is my first try at a FFVII story (posted), and a Tseng and Elena pairing. Please let me know how I did. I thought about continuing, but I wasn't sure, let me know if I should. This isn't edited. Clarity is an OC from a story of mine that hasn't been posted.
After the remnant incident, Reno found himself lounging on a sofa in the Healin Lodge. Rude was recovering from the fight; Rufus and Clarity were reunited and were, hopefully, patching up their relationship. He didn't know where Tseng and Elena were, but he hoped that they were starting a relationship. He knew they were found of each other, and he was annoyed with the tension that was causing a strain in the household.
Then the door burst open revealing a tearful Elena. "Oh! I'm sorry Reno. I'll go," she said trying to stay composed.
"No, it's okay. Come here," Reno said softly holding open his arms, hoping to comfort his friend. Elena shut the door and ran into Reno's embrace. Sitting together in the couch, Elena sobbed into her co-worker's shoulder.
"He doesn't love me," Elena murmured through her tears.
Reno just ran his fingers through her blonde hair. He knew that Tseng loved Elena. He saw the looks Tseng gave the young blonde when he thought no one was looking. They were full of unguarded love and longing, and the sadness when a person wants someone they know they can't have. Then there was his panic when Elena was shot in the Northern Crater. That saddened, frightened shout of his would never stop ringing in his head.
After a while Elena fell asleep. Reno continued to comfort her, even though she was sleeping. Reno sighed. He loved the youngest member of the Turks like a sister, and it pained him to see her so upset. Reno was honestly starting to get mad at his superior. Couldn't that man see how this relationship, or lack there of, was affecting them.
The door creaked open. Speak of the devil and he shall appear. Tseng made to step into the room, but Reno's glare stopped him. Tseng up his hands up in a sign of surrender, which didn't stop Reno's glare.
Tseng could see that Reno was accusing him. And he didn't blame Reno. Tseng's allegedly stone heart broke when he saw the object of his affection's face covered in tears, and her sobs had echoed around the hallway, tearing his heart asunder. Tseng clenched his jaw, and lowered his head. He shut the door and walked down the hallway into his room.
A tear fell down his face. He hoped one day, she would understand that he did this to keep her safe, as safe as she could as a Turk.
