pairings/warnings: Eames/Arthur / poor characterization

summary: Classical music doesn't always sound so lovely in dream time.

notes: pre-film

disclaimer: I do not own Inception or any of its characters.

There was an architect that would insist on using classical music to time their kick.

Arthur hated those jobs.

It was hard to work when the third movement of some sonata drifted down into the dream, so slow that the song was distorted when it reached the team: Notes that were staccato came through as if they were whole measures with only a single note and measures that lasted too long filled the dream.

It grated on his ears and gave him a headache.

"Are you alright, Arthur?" Of course, it was Eames, with his voice in his ear, invading his space.

Arthur's jaw tensed. "I'm fine."

"If it's the music," Eames grabbed Arthur's wrist, turning his body so they would face each other, "I hate it too. I don't think Mozart intended for his music to be ever heard like this."

The throbbing in his head made it difficult to protest as Eames placed on hand on his hip and held up his hand.

"Shall we make are own music?" And Eames led them in a slow waltz as he hummed softly in Arthur's ear.

Then came the kick.

I decided to try writing some Inception fan fiction for the heck of it. It's been a while since I've seen the film so I'm relying on other fan fiction as a reference for Arthur and Eames' behavior.

There was a point were I wanted it to be Cobb to comfort Arthur but Eames' "charm" seemed to fit the situation better.
