Plea for Reason: If it makes no sense, blame the hormones. It isn't plagiarism if I give credit. Areas in bold are lifted directly from Labyrinth—a novel based on the Jim Henson film, written by A.C.H. Smith, and published by Henry Hold & Company in New York.Words have power, or so they say.
No, that isn't quite right. Words only have power when they convey true intent. Not everyone says quite what they mean. Only the innocent, the unbeguiling--the children and the trusting--are naive enough to say what they truly mean.
I wish...
I do...
Please...
Then the words have power.
I wish there were others more like me.
I do want to play all day and night.
Please take me away from this awful place.
As if they were hands, the words mold around the molecules of matter and create what the intent suggests. Ugly creatures only those like themselves could tolerate. A place where time has no meaning. A place far away.
But not always are the words dark.
I wish there really, truly were unicorns and other fantastical creatures.
I do want to live the life of high adventure.
Please love me.
And so, that place far away becomes populated with animals both familiar and fantastical, full of danger untold and hardships unnumbered.
And with someone who needs to love.
Now, love is a very complex thing. An innocent asking for love is a plea that can not be ignored. Only the all encompassing, all accepting love of an adoring adult is the only love that is expected. So, the words create an adult to love the unloved.
But, most do not remain innocent forever. The innocent move on, leaving this world of words behind, learning to repress their true intentions with subterfuge, least anyone should have power over them with the knowledge of their deepest desires.
That adult though, remains in that lonely world now, waiting for the next generation to come. What happens when that adult needs to be loved?
Just fear me, and love me, and do as I say, and I...I will be your slave.
--That's sounds pretty desperate to me.
