Asleep on His Shoulder

Going from one Island to the other, Hau finds himself in a unfamiliar situation as he finds Lille asleep on his shoulder during their long ferry ride together. Even though he wanted to catch a few z's himself, now he won't be able to get any rest with Lillie so close to his neck! A Hau x Lillie one shot. Enjoy!

Asleep on His Shoulder

The rocking of the waves made Lillie sleepy as she sat on the ferryboat with Hau eating by her side. Even though she tried her best to keep her eyes open, she found herself losing consciousness with every rock the boat took on the waves.

"You know, you should take a nap if you're so tired. We won't be at the next island for at least a couple of hours. You got some time to kill." Hau told her as he chuckled at her sleepy face. "How long did you stay up last night?"

Lillie gave a big yawn and stretched out her arms. "Actually I went to bed really early, I don't know why I'm so tired all of a sudden...I think the heat is getting to me."

Hau reached over and placed his hand over her forehead, causing Lillie to blush at his sudden physical contact with her. "You don't feel like you got a fever."

"Thanks Hau but I'm fine. I think I'll take you up on that suggestion and take a nap, I do need to save my energy for the next island after all." Lillie stated as she placed her bag on the ground and kicked off her shoes to make her feel more comfortable. Hau had finished his snack and was now yawning himself, stretching out his arms like a cat and rolling his neck.

Hau leaned back on his chair and was about to close his eyes until he felt something curl itself up on his shoulder. He opened his eyes to see Lillie had passed out and now she was dangerously close to his neck as she used his shoulder as a makeshift pillow. She smelled like tangerines and her lips once or twice hit his exposed neck as she readjusted herself.

"H-Hey Lillie, I'll wake you up when we get there OK? So you can sleep for as long as you want..." Hau stuttered with his eyes open wide and his face blushing rose red. There was no way he would be able to fall asleep now that he had Lillie sleeping on his shoulder. His heart wouldn't let him.

Lillie smiled in her sleep and snuggled herself closer to Hau as she rested peacefully in his comforting presence. Hau smiled down at her and did something he never thought he'd have the guts to do, he leaned his head down and kissed the top her head as a gentle goodnight kiss. For the rest of the trip over to the next island, Hau stayed awake looking at Lillie as she caught up on her sleep. All the while feeling like the happiest guy in the world with a beautiful girl fast asleep on his shoulder.
