Fire of the Ori

A little snippet from my Muse about an unusual Ori. Plays fast and loose with canon.

Finree was Ori.

Finree had seen it all in the Ori galaxy, and they were bored. Nothing was ever allowed to change; Origin was fixed and the rest of the Ori swam around lazily getting fatter and fatter on energy. But now they knew the Others were out there! In another galaxy! Doing Ori only knew what!

The Ori liked hate. Finree suspected that it was one of the few things left that actually interested them. Hating on the Others had occupied them for millennia after they thought they'd wiped the Others out and now they knew they'd actually failed at that, it had kicked their fat asses off their metaphorical couches.

Finree was still bored. A war on the Others was no more interesting than another set of lower beings yammering on about the nonsense filling the Book of Origin. But when they opened Stargates to this 'Milky Way' galaxy, it wasn't that hard for Finree to sneak through.

Cut off from the worshippers of the Ori galaxy, Finree expected to feel weaker - they did not and after some little study, they realized they had long since ceased bothering with the power anyway. Once one had enough, whydid one need more, anyway? Certainly Finree cared not at all. They had an entire galaxy full of things that were new! Of course, over time, they crossed the paths of other ascended beings but Finree took considerable care not to attract attention.

Therefore, when Finree came across a pair of ascended locked into battle with one another, they had no idea who they were. It was an interesting sight, though. The Ori did not battle one another directly; Finree could not recall ever encountering anything like this peculiar duo and they hung around for quite some time to watch.

Eventually, Finree found themselves hungry for more than they could discover by merely watching. Assessing their power levels, they ascertained they were much stronger than either of the combatants and with the same impulsiveness that led them to come through the stargate, they waded into the fight. One of the beings fell back, radiating confusion at being interfered with and this left Finree contemplating the other being.

Finree had not been surprised in a very long time, but they did recognize the sensation. This creature was not a proper Ascended! It was...evil!

Why had not the Others dealt with this creature properly? Why had they left it to a weak member of their kind to fight it? Finree had no idea but in an impulsive fit of anger, they manifested their power in Fire. It was not corporeal fire, of course - such a thing would have accomplished nothing. No, this was the Fire of the Ori, summoned to punish an unworthy Ascended.

Anubis burned.

Finree kept it up until the evil was annihilated and once done, they looked around for the other Ascended. Finding it - no... her - Finree tried something entirely new. They asked (rather hesitantly) to learn. Luckily for them, Oma was a born teacher.
