"I need you," Grissom admits softly.
"How can I help?"
Grissom grins a little and for once it matches his eyes, which are twinkling mischievously. Grinning even wider Grissom whispers huskily next to her ear, "What do you say we figure out what to do about this ?"
It is Sara's turn to grin, "I told you, I know what to do about this. See..." turning her head she kisses him in demonstration
"I...I think...Sara, stop!" he chokes out. She jerks away as if he had slapped her. As she whirls to face him Grissom sees her expression and is quick to rephrase, "No, honey, God no, I didn't mean-" breaking off, he runs a trembling hand through his hair. "I didn't mean it to sound quite like that. I didn't want you to stop. I mean I wanted you to stop, but not stop stop, just to quit doing whatever that wonderful thing you were doing with that wonderful mouth of yours long enough for me to say," he falters again, "to say-"
"At this rate, we'll never get into bed," Sara mutters, pouting a little. Grissom's eyes widen at her directness. "That is where we're heading, right? I didn't mean to sound, I just thought that-" her words die in her throat at the sight of Grissom trying not to laugh.
Before she can characteristically misinterpret his laughter, he gallantly saves her from further unwarranted humiliation by joking, "Now who's holding this up?" She laughs, relieved.
"Ok, what were you trying to say, Griss?" she asks in that patient, humoring voice she reserves for him.
"I'm sorry I made you think that I wanted you to stop stop. I just needed to tell you that I," he takes her hands in his, not moving his eyes from hers. "I think, no, I know what to do about this, too."
"Oh, yeah?"
"Oh, yeah!"
"And what's that?"
"What's what?"
"Grissom!"
"I was kidding, Sara, honest."
Sara breathes a sigh of relief. "He is so good at that! With that poker face he could make a fortune at the tables..." Her wandering thoughts are cut off at the touch of Grissom's lips on hers.
"I love you."
"What?" Sara asks, afraid she'd imagined it.
"I love you," he repeats. "I always have and I always will."
"Oh, Grissom," Sara breathes, hugging him tightly, "I love you, too!"
"Hey, um, Sara," Grissom manages a few glorious minutes later.
"Now what!" she groans, exasperated.
"Don't ever stop!"
