"C'mon, Pete, leave me alone."
"No! I said I'd be right behind you. I'm staying here."
"You always keep to your word. You're too damn trustworthy! Like that time when you were seven, and I told you to wait with that baseball cap, and you did, you sat there on that wall for hours, telling everyone who spoke to you 'I can't, I'm waiting for Nathan. He won't be long.' and each one believed you, and then, when I came back, you said nothing angry, just that you'd waited, you'd waited just like I'd said. Then you smiled at me and I felt…so guilty. I wrapped you in my arms and thanked you, and you thought I was acting real strange. I told you, I said, 'strange, yeah, that's me, Pete.' and we both laughed, then went home and ate dinner. It was…" Nathan's eyes screwed up in concentration, "It was…"
"Cheese pasta." Peter said, amazed at the flurry of words that had just flown from his 'brother's' mouth.
"And you…remember that, Nathan?" They looked at each other for a moment, both in mid-flight.
"Yeah. Yeah, I guess I do." Then something changed in Nathan's eyes.
"Pete, listen, there's something I've got to say, got to ask, and you've got to promise me you'll answer me straight. Promise me."
"Sure, Nathan, anything." Nathan could see the sincerity in his brother's eyes. "What do you want me to do?"
"I'll explain in a minute. Let's just get some solid ground beneath our feet." A second later, they'd landed, Peter a little shaky on his feet, having been out of practise. He looked around, taking in his surroundings. They were outside his apartment block.
"Right, let's get inside."
