"Want a beer?"
Daniel accepted the bottle handed to him and took a long drink.
"So?" Jack leaned against his kitchen counter and waited for the man sitting at the table to say something profound.
"So what?"
"About today."
"It was interesting."
"And."
"And I don't know what you want me to say Jack."
"At least you didn't call me Jim."
Daniel laughed. "I haven't called you Jim in over a week. Anyhow, I was just joking."
"About what?"
"Jim."
"Really?"
"No."
"Oh."
"Just kidding."
"What?"
"Nothing. So." Daniel placed his beer bottle on the table and looked around the kitchen. "Things haven't changed much have they?"
"Not really."
"New toaster." Daniel pointed.
Jack shrugged. "Do you want a sandwich?"
"Sure."
That at least gave Jack something to do. They'd only been at the cabin for ten minutes and already he wasn't sure what to do. "Tomato?"
"Okay." Daniel took another sip of his beer in desperation to think of something to say. "Jonas is a good guy. I'm glad you kept him."
"He's not a puppy."
"He's smart."
"Meh."
"Oh."
"At least now that you're back things can get back to normal."
"Normal?"
Jack passed Daniel his sandwich. "You know... we can been a team again."
"I'm not the same."
"You never were." Jack sat down at the table. "I'm glad your back Daniel."
"Thanks. By the way, I'm sorry."
"About?"
"Asking so many questions."
"Like I said." Jack smiled. "Back to normal."
