My last words
A/N: Hey readers this is my first Hunger Games fic – hope u like! Cinna gives his last words to Katniss as he's killed by the Peacekeepers.
Obviously Katniss X Cinna One-Shot
Katniss POV
"Cinna! No!" I yell, not knowing whether he could hear me or not.
He was a mess after the Peacekeepers left. Covered in bruises, scratches and more. Blood seeped out of his nose, cuts and head. He was dying, slowly, painfully – anyone could see that. I flicked my braid over my shoulder and leaned in towards him. I delicately run my fingers over his bruises trying not to flinch at the sight of him.
A quiet sigh suddenly came from his throat. It was a chocking sound – as if he was struggling to breathe.
"Kat-niss," he chocked. I gasped – that was not the voice of Cinna I was used to.
"Shhh try not to talk," I whisper, running my lips along his face.
"Kat-niss," he tried again, ignoring my words, "don't lose – keep the Mockingjay – she's inside you and I will always be there with you..." he closed his eyes, yet continued to breathe slowly.
"I will!" I cry, tears falling down my face, forming sparkling crystals on my cheeks, "I'll do anything for you..." I kiss his bloody lips, breathing in the last bit of his perfume.
"Katniss?" he breathes, keeping his eyes closed.
"Yes?" I murmur.
"I love you – don't you ever forget that. I'll be with you as long as you remember me."
I sigh but smile – he knows this reaction by now. I agree with him and I will remember him, and I'll make sure everyone knows what my beautiful Cinna has done for me and others. He is beginning to fade – I can see it. His chest is rising less and less with each painful breath. It is becoming more difficult for him but he is clinging onto his life.
"Goodbye Cinna, I'll never forget you," I whisper as his chest stops rising and the faint sound of his breathing is reduced to silence. He could have been my life.
In one last act of love and repect, I touch my lips to my three fingers and raise them to the sky...
