Pelleas stood tentatively in front of the tent where the so called: "Lekain's death celebration party" was supposedly going to take place. After gathering his courage (what little of it he had), he pushed open the tent flap and was greeted by the glances of four people; Naesala, Micaiah, Sothe, and Astrid.
Everyone's attention returned to their drinks and the conversation started up again. Micaiah gestured for Pelleas to sit down next to Sothe, and he did so, crossing his legs.
Pelleas took the proffered drink from Naesala – he had been drinking ever since he was a kid, because the orphanage didn't care what they drank, and he always felt an affinity toward wine.
After the last person arrived – Sanaki, the empress of Begnion – Naesala declared "the bastard's gone" party officially started. Sanaki went over to sit by him, and they were soon engrossed in conversation.
As the time wore on, they all chatted about different things – how much they hated Lekain, the hideous outfits Naesala sometimes saw him in, how much they hated Lekain, how Sothe would have liked to have kill him, how Micaiah would have liked to kill him (they were all surprised by this), and how much they hated Lekain. Even Pelleas contributed, with a story that made Sothe narrow his eyes in anger and inform everyone on how perverted Lekain was.
Gradually, though, a creeping feeling stole upon Pelleas.
It seemed that he was the only one who could effectively hold his alcohol.
This feeling was precipitated by Naesala standing, swaying a little, and making a slurred pronouncement concerning the fact he didn't want to invite 'Shanakiii' because he didn't want to be thrown in jail. Sanaki answered with an equally slurred answer that the chains were just a bonus.
Micaiah and Astrid both started giggling madly, and so far, hadn't stopped, and Sanaki had laughed so hard (at her own joke) she fell on Naesala and now both of them were locked in an embrace.
Sothe had chuckled, and then leaned over and pinned Pelleas against the ground. "You know, Pelleas," Sothe said, his eyes hazy and unfocused, "I really, really like you."
And when Sothe leaned down to kiss him, Pelleas could only kiss back. Never mind that this was probably something brought on by the drink – for now, it made Pelleas happy.
Author's Note: More SothePelleas. Another excuse. A pathetic attempt at humor.
