"It is this way!" She insists; pulling her husband and daughter through the crowds of people towards a small table at the back of the room. Ziva can gage from the expressions on parents faces what is being said about their children, some look pleasantly surprised whilst others seem to be holding in their anger and disappointment until they are in the car. Hopefully Carmiya's meeting will be short and sweet - her parents are both tired after spending a long week solving the case of a marine that turned out to have been pushed overboard. Literally.
A young woman with curly ginger hair and a lightly freckled face is waiting for the trio. "Mr and Mrs DiNozzo?" She asks as they near the table, Ziva turns to Tony and grins. It's her way of discreetly telling him she was right and they needn't have bothered wandering round for ages beforehand, whilst he insisted he had seen the right table. Tony ignores her and shakes the young woman's hand.
"I'm Tony." He says. "And this is my wife Ziva."
"Perfect. I'm Miss Kelley." The young woman replies. "Lets talk about Carmiya shall we?" At the sound of her name Carmiya looks up from the floor to meet her teachers eye. She grins widely knowing her teacher will have nothing but good things to say and she's right.
"Carmiya is a delightful student to have in my class, she seems to be getting along really well with all the other children in Kindergarten and always has a lot to say. It was fascinating to hear about all the films she's seen. Some... uh classics that I wouldn't have expected a six year old to be able to recite." Tony avoids catching his wife's gaze - he had promised Ziva he would only watch childrens films with Carmiya but he just couldn't wait to educate her about all the legendary films he had waited years to watch as a child. At least he had covered her eyes during the unsuitable parts.
"Well..." Ziva mutters. "She has the appreciation for film that her father does I suppose." Miss Kelley smiles reassuringly at the little family.
"Is she doing well academically?" Ziva asks.
"Yes - she is very bright. You should be very proud of her, I think languages are definitely going to be a strong point of hers. Sometimes I struggle to stop her from switching to Hebrew in the middle of a sentence!" Ziva reaches out and clasps her daughters hand, Miss Kelley is right. She is incredibly proud of her daughter - her own mother had often reminded her how important her roots were and now that she was trying to teach the same lesson to Carmiya it was a relief to see it was paying off.
"The only bad thing I have to say about Carmiya is that she does get a bit over excited at play time when she splits the class into two teams and has them play agents vs criminals. Archie had to move tables permanently after she told him she knew how to kill him with a paper-clip" Now it was Zivas turn to be embarrassed and look at the floor. "Is that the time?" Miss Kelley sighs. "I must be seeing the next family now I hope to see you again soon and that Carmiya continues to improve over the year." Tony and Ziva are both glad the appointment is over, Carmiya was starting to look bored and on the way home there are some discussions that need to be had about films and paperclips.
All three stand up and smile at the teacher, Tony shakes her hand before saying goodbye and taking Zivas. The couple exchange a split second smile, then Ziva hoists Carmiya up so she is sat on her hip - tomorrow the family leave for a trip to Paris to celebrate Tony and Zivas wedding anniversary so it is a rush to get home and into bed.
