Title: Singing
Lessons
Author: Ish
Notes: When I
was in Junior High, my choir teacher made a point of teaching us the
proper methods of singing: how to breath, how to shape your mouth,
and how the sound should originate from below your navel and rise
through the top of your head. I imagine Ryuichi would find the
simple act of singing to be an incredibly erotic experience, though
my voice teacher wouldn't have agreed with his methods!
Shuichi had finally given in to Tatsuha's pleading to take him to the studio for his duet rehearsal with Ryuichi after the boy had spent a good hour on his knees swearing oath after oath that he would behave. And – the most surprising part of it – he WAS behaving! In fact, he had been an angel the entire time, sitting seiza on the floor and looking slightly dazed over his good fortune as the two singers warmed up, battling over octaves. Shuichi was thrilled; he could finally brag to Yuki that he had made the right decision!
"Ne, ne, can Tatsu-chan sing the next part?"
Startled, Shuichi attempted to stop Ryuichi, sure whatever whim he was acting on could only end in disaster due to the teenager's crush and raging hormones. But the brunet almost knocked Shuichi over with a Kumagorou beam in his rush to get to the stuttering Tatsuha, the teen trying to protest that he didn't know how to sing and besides, Uesugis were all tone-deaf.
"Shh…" Blue eyes narrowed as Ryuichi shushed the schoolboy, ignoring Shuichi completely. "It's not so difficult, once you've been taught properly."
He moved behind the dark-haired teen and ran his hands over his shoulders. Brushing them down his chest, the older male spoke again. "Consider this your first lesson."
Ryuichi's rings caught slightly on the fabric of Tatsuha's t-shirt as the boy's breath caught in his throat. Grasper's lead singer dropped his voice down, his tones husky. "You never breathe from your chest."
Shuichi gaped, unable to summon his own voice up as Ryuichi's fingers pressed against Tatsuha's chest as if seeking to imprint the point upon him physically. They continued to trail downwards, circling the boy's navel over his shirt. The vocalist knelt to whisper his words into Tatsuha's ear, although he still spoke just loudly enough for Shuichi to hear. "Most voice teachers will tell you that you sing from your abdomen. They're lying."
Grey eyes stared wide at Shuichi, who could only met Tatsuha's shocked gaze with one of his own. Nervousness, arousal, and a pinch of fear coiled in the schoolboy's stomach over the sudden and unexpected development, freezing him in place.
"The real power in your voice comes from your groin."
Tatsuha's loud gasp sounded far away to Shuichi, his mind refusing to believe what he was seeing. Ryuichi squeezed gently, then released Tatsuha to move in front of him. One lightly callused fingertip traced along his bottom lip.
"That was lesson number one. In lesson two, I'll show you what to do with your mouth."
seiza – Traditional Japanese method of sitting on one's folded knees and still preferred to chairs by some Japanese today.
