A whole new world
A new fantastic point of view
No one to tell us no
Or where to go
Or say we're only dreaming

-Disney's Aladdin

"It worked."

Finally the news she had been waiting for. She had been deemed dead by the Ozians. She was free. Free from hatred, free from continuous conflict. She could make her own way in life without needing to fight to make herself heard. Maybe this new world would accept her for who she was.

She pushed the trapdoor open and looked out.

"Fiyero!"

It was him. He was different. But he was alive, and that was the main thing. She smiled nervously and bit her lip, reaching forward tentatively with one hand.

"It's alright. You can touch."

She placed a hand on his cheek. He put his hand over hers and she closed her eyes In pleasure.

"It's beautiful."

"You don't have to lie to me-"

"It's not lying." She cut him off. "It's looking at things another way."

They both smiled at the memory of the last time those words were spoken. He helped her out of the trapdoor and he put his arms around her. She almost melted – literally melted – at the touch of the lover she thought she had lost.

"I missed you, my love."

Fiyero's new face watched her meaningfully. Even since his transformation, his eyes had not changed colour. They were still that deep blue, soulful. She could drown in his eyes.

She looked back over her shoulder, breaking the contact, checking the place that Glinda had hidden herself. She was gone. Fiyero sensed the change.

"What is it?"

"It's just… I wish Glinda could know we were alive."

Fiyero embraced her, and in that single movement Elphaba knew that she could never return to Oz. She could never see her closest and only friend again. It was the change of a lifetime. Was it worth her life, to stay and watch her friend get on without her? Was it worth dying, just to see Glinda one more time?

Yes.

But she shook those thoughts away. They could never come back to Oz.

"I can show you the world. Shining, shimmering, splendid. A world where we will never be persecuted for who we are. A world where a scarecrow and a witch can stay together and never be harmed because they are different. Isn't it what you've dreamed of?"

I don't know.

"Of course. But… this is… was… my home. Bad as it may have been, who says this new world isn't worse."

"I promise you, Elphaba. We will be safe. We will always be safe, because we are together, and no one can stop us."

She nodded and took his hand. They walked away from the world they had been born in. In the distance, Elphaba could hear the sounds of the Ozians celebrating. She felt she could hear Glinda mourning for the friend she would never see again.

Limited… I'm limited. And just look at you, you can do all I couldn't do. Glinda.

Now it's up to you.

Glinda would stay strong for both of them. Glinda would fight the battle that Elphaba had begun. Elphaba would never forget Glinda, ever, but for now, she knew that Glinda would manage. Fiyero was by her side, and everything would be alright.

He brought her closer to him and together they stepped through the Time Dragon Clock to a new world. This was the beginning of a new life with Fiyero and it would be wonderful.

She opened her eyes to beauty. It was a paradise.

Let me share this whole new world with you.
