Kotonoha's Nightmare
They were on the rooftop, as usual, having lunch. She remembered doing this with her ex and best friend. She would sit at his right and her best friend would sit at his left. Life was perfect then. Then, things changed tragically and she was left heartbroken and alone.
Now she was having lunch with her new boyfriend. He wore his hair long and messy, his tie loose, and his shirt un-tucked. He had cold blue eyes that would turn gold but held a warm gaze when they looked at her. He was strong and quick to defend her. Though he kept secrets from her, he was still honest enough to tell her about them when he was ready. He may not be the perfect or ideal boyfriend, but he was the one for her. He was her knight in shining armor…so to speak.
She then asked for a kiss and he was happy to comply. However, when he reached for her, his skin suddenly turned grey and blue flames erupted from his body. She gasped as his entire body crumbled into a pile of dust, leaving only his clothes behind.
She let loose a scream.
And then she woke up.
"A nightmare…" she told herself as she sat up in bed, her heart racing. She wiped the cold sweat off her forehead. Her bangs were damp. She was also trembling as she clutched her sheets. "Just a nightmare..."
Kotonoha Katsura was a girl who was completely in love with her boyfriend, Ryuji Hasuma. She was also afraid that he would leave her. Not like he would break up with her. No. She was afraid that he would just suddenly turn to dust right before her eyes.
Her boyfriend was an Orphenoch and was considered the next step in human evolution. He possessed above human abilities like enhanced strength, speed, agility, reflexes and senses. He also possessed incredible powers. However, Ophenochs also had a rather limited life span due to the unstable nature of their DNA. They could just crumble to dust without warning and that was how they died. Ryuji was different. His DNA was stable so that meant he wouldn't suffer from a limited lifespan. That still didn't stop her from thinking that it could happen one day. But his life as a Kamen Rider was still life-threatening and she was afraid that one day he would not survive a battle. She didn't want him to suddenly die like that, with nothing but ashes remaining. She wanted him to be with her, now and forever.
