Hey everyone. This story was written for September Event: Back to School. I used prompt 20. (character) Sybil Trelawney. This is set during Trelawney's days at Hogwarts. Mentions of character deaths. I hope you all enjoy Seer.
As long as she can remember Sybil Trelawney has always had the gift of the sight. She can remember accurately predicting when grandad Trelawney was going to pass away when she was a young girl. She tried to prepare her parents but they wouldn't listen her. They didn't want to open their minds to the fact that she was a seer of the future.
"Why are you like this Sybil?" one of the girls who pretended to be her friend asked her breaking through Sybil's thoughts. "I mean saying all these freaky things. Like predicting people's deaths."
"I have seen beyond the veil," she told Ashley as though this should be obvious to the other girl. She watched the bleached blonde to see her reaction. "I know what's going to happen."
"Like that time that you said that Adam Weatherbee was going to die," Ashley persisted studying her nails as though bored with the conversation. "You said he was going to die and he only got the stomach virus."
"I didn't say when. Now did I?"
"You never say when and it's beginning to scare the younger students. You're always predicting someone's death. Can't you try to see something happy for once?"
Couldn't Ashley see that Sybil didn't have any choice in what she saw? It was like with Cassandra of Troy. She saw the truth and no one believed her about it. Shrugging she went back to her breakfast.
"Sybil," Ashley said laying her hand on Sybil's arm, "as your friend, I'm just saying, you might want to ease off the deaths for a while. Okay?"
She nodded as the visions played behind her eyes. A young couple, and it was always the same couple, was being killed by the Dark Lord in a home in Godric's Hollow. She just say anything about now. Maybe one of these days someone would take her seriously. Maybe.
I hope you all enjoyed Seer.
