Napoleon and the Phillies

Napoleon and the Phillies

This story is about Napoleon and the Philadelphia Phillies. It takes place in Philadelphia, PA in 2008. While in France Napoleon was the greatest general in his time. Napoleon was put into exile but escaped and traveled by boat across the Atlantic Ocean to the city of Philadelphia. Napoleon was 5'2 and was born in 1769. So Napoleon is about 239 years old.

While Napoleon was in Philadelphia he was interested in joining the Philadelphia Phillies as their manager. Back when Napoleon was in France he was the General or Emperor of France. So Napoleon was interviewed and was picked to be the manager or general of the Philadelphia Phillies. Napoleon's nickname was "The Big General" because he was only 5'2.

So while in Philadelphia, Napoleon and the Phillies practiced until the season opener. They played 162 games a year. The first game of the season was on March 31st, 2008 at 3:05 start. The game was tied 6 - 6 in the 7th inning until Ryan Howard hit a Grand Slam and now it was a 10 – 6 ballgame. So Brad Lidge came out in the ninth inning to save the game for his first save and struck all three batters out. During the start of the regular season Napoleon and the Phillies enjoyed their first place record and played the whole month of April great.

Times during the 2008 season were good because all the players were rich and also the staff. They had big houses, fast cars and a lot more. Back in France were Napoleon was Emperor his time was harsh because he wasn't rich he went to fight battles and didn't have any food to survive on so his time was really bad compared to our time. So in was the Mid-Break of the season, the All Star Break, for the Phillies and were in 1st Place in their Division. The League chose Napoleon to be the manager of the NL League All Star Team. The top leading vote guy was Chase Utley and they picked Brad Lidge to pitch because he was a great closer. While in game time the NL was losing to the AL 6 – 5 in the 7th. So Chase Utley is up man on 1st and 3rd 2outs he hits a 3 run homerun to win it for the NL League.

To defeat other teams you have to have good pitching, run support and confidence to defeat your enemies. So when September came up the Phillies went on to win the NL East Division Title and were in the Playoffs 2008. So Napoleon was happy because it reminded him of when he was the Emperor of France when he won battles but here he won something else a division title.

So the Phillies went on the NLDS and beat Milwaukee in a series 3 – 1. So they advanced to the NLCS and had a hard time because they were both hot teams so they battling from game to game. The Phillies in Game 5 were winning by one run in the 7th until the Big Man Ryan Howard hit a 3 run homerun to win it over the Dodgers. So they advance to the World Series against the Red Soxs.

Now the Red Soxs have experience because they won the World Series 2times in the last 4 years. So they were difficult games. In Game 1 was a victory for the Phils because Cole Hamels had a Complete Game Shutout. Game 2was a 5 – 3 game because of a Burrell 3 run homerun. Game 3 was a pitching duel between Brett Myers and Jon Lester but the Phillies got to the bullpen to win it. Game 4 was the game that got everybody nervous because the game was a scoring game every inning for both teams untill Jimmy Rollins hit a bases loaded double in the 10th inning to win it. So the Phillies and Napoleon become World Champions. The Phillies are like Napoleon because he defeated people and controlled their land and the Phillies defeated everyone to because the Champions of the World.
