Title: It's Nice to See You, Too
Rating: T (for sexual innuendo)
Summary: An alternate GITF, in which the Doctor's smashing through the glass gets a very different reaction from Reinette.
Disclaimer: I don't own Doctor Who. I recently had the experience of having the classic serial I was watching on YouTube deleted, which sucks.
Author's Note: I've only got one exam left, so I figured I could find time to post this. It's partly inspired by a theory I included in my fic The Tart in the Fireplace, but this one's not a hate fic.
It's Nice to See You, Too
The Doctor smashed through the glass as he rode Arthur the horse back into 18th century France. He could see the Droids about to start work on Reinette, and was thankful that he'd made it in time.
The Droids, having seen that the Doctor had broken the link, realised that they could no longer fulfil their purpose, and stopped working. From his position on top of Arthur, the Doctor grinned at Reinette, who looked up in wonder.
"You came back to me," she said, her eyes shining.
"I always do," boasted the Doctor.
"After all these years," continued Reinette.
"For you, yes – for me, not so much," explained the Doctor.
"I thought I'd never see you again," said Reinette, taking a step closer to him.
"Rose told you I'd come back, and I did," said the Doctor. "I'm a man of my word."
"I'm going to give you a kiss," announced Reinette. The Doctor blushed.
"Well, if you must," he said bashfully, but with the hint of a smile on his face.
"And later, I'm going to ride you like there's no tomorrow!" exclaimed Reinette. The Doctor's eyes widened.
"Reinette, please, the King's watching," he said, scratching his ear. "And while I danced with you once before, I don't know if I'm quite ready to dance with you." Reinette looked up at him.
"Sorry Doctor, what were you saying?" she asked. The Doctor cocked his head to one side.
"Um, I'm not ready to dance with you?" he said, confused.
"Sorry, I'm just a bit distracted," said Reinette. "I just can't believe I've got Jean-Pierre back!"
"Jean- who?" questioned the Doctor.
"Jean-Pierre – my long lost horse," said Reinette, who had tears in her eyes. "He went missing years ago, and now here he is!" She turned to face Arthur, or Jean-Pierre, and pressed kisses all over his face. "I have missed you so much, yes I have, oh you're such a good horse, yes you are..."
"Oi!" exclaimed the Doctor. "I did just save you from Clockwork Droids who wanted your head."
"Yes, thanks for that," muttered Reinette. "But you couldn't have done it without the help of Jean-Pierre here, who was so brave to go through that glass, yes you were..."
"I broke the connection to the spaceship to get here. I'm trapped in this world," emphasised the Doctor. Reinette frowned.
"That wasn't very clever of you," she said. "Whatever did you do that for?"
"It was the only way I could save your life," said the Doctor.
"Why didn't you just send Jean-Pierre through on his own?" asked Reinette. The Doctor opened his mouth, but having found nothing to say, closed it. Meanwhile, Reinette continued hugging and kissing Jean-Pierre, while the Doctor, still mounted, was left in a very awkward situation.
It's nice to see you, too, he thought.
That didn't really turn out the way I was expecting, but what the hell. I need to get back into fic-writing mood, especially since I've been writing nothing but essays for 2 weeks.
