ch. 1: the devestating blow

"PK!" simon shouted to alert his monolithic companion as a barrage of tracker rockets barreled towards her, giving her the chance to dash nimbly away, one glancing her communications antenna while rest miss only to detonate in the sky above. on the open comms, a frustrated tone pilote can be heard muttering his grievances, "why dontcha get into ya titan and fight me! you gonna let her do all the work for ya?" simon only had to glance to let pk know his answer was a yes. the railgun began to glow white hot, spinning up the death blow. the tone pilote grimaced, and instead of facing pk, turned towards simon letting of a single 40mm round in his direction just before a mass of superheated slag plunged itself into his cockpit melting him into nothing. "simon!" pk tried to warn her pilot. only succeeding in turning more attention towards herself as more titans began to converge on her position. simon jumped just a second too late, propelling his limp body into the sky. pk dashed once more to catch him, and despite her size, gently grasps him before he hits the ground. realizing how outnumbered she was, and that her only ally left was her own pilot, she turned to where her team entered before the fight and ran, placing simon in her cockpit before engaging her thrusters to get away. she glanced to the battlefield below, once a large clearing with a small river flowing through, now looking more like a hellish scrapyard. all friendly i.d.'s, both titan and pilot, all came up as either offline or deceased. they were alone, miles from any allied lines, a pilot unconscious with serious injuries and a titan with an antenna damaged with no way to communicate. protocol 1: linked to pilot, protocol 2: impossible to complete mission under current conditions, protocol 3: pilot still alive, attempting to keep this status true.
