Sara looked at the clock nervously; it shouldn't take this long. She exhaled heavily and played with the bank card she held in her hand. She'd just gotten back to her apartment after shopping away her last paycheck. Highly out of character for a woman such as herself, who needed such a high amount of self-control in her life that she'd never allow herself to withdraw more than one half of her paycheck at a time. She glanced up again – only a minute to go.

She looked at the bags from various shops – some designer, some high street and the local pharmacy. She knew she'd regret this in the morning; she didn't know why she was saving all that money, but it stopped her from worrying about her finances and now that system was out of whack.

Grissom. This was all his fault. If he hadn't…then she…Damn him. She thought bitterly.

40 seconds.

Well, now at least I might have a reason for saving it all. Wonder what he's going to say?

Oh, crap. I hadn't even thought about that. How the hell am I going to explain this one? Just walk into his office and say – "Hey, Gris, you remember that one night we spent together about a month ago which was a result of your second-hand near-death experience? Well…it broke and I didn't tell you. Now I'm having an illegitimate baby – your illegitimate baby! And if Ecklie ever finds out we'll both be fired. Hope you don't mind me ruining your life!" She laughed in spite of herself. Yep, this is going to be juuuust greaaaat…

The night was amazing though. She'd had sex many times before, but it was never anything, not even with her high-school sweetheart, just relieving herself of the itch she felt. But with Grissom…There was nothing like it. She should have known that he'd have some kinky skeletons in his closet, after all, she remembered Lady Heather. She remembered the office gossip. Now the same thing was occurring with her and Grissom. The rest of the team was unbearably nosy – according to Greg because they had "such a family atmosphere that any activity between two members of the team was vaguely incestuous." He'd then went on to compare Grissom to their father, leaving Sara to throw him a dirty look and mutter something about Warrick and Catherine, who had been caught missing each other's glances like a couple of shy teenagers in the locker room. The entire lab had bets on when they were going to hook up, even though Warrick was now married. Sara knew that people were probably still collecting money for her and Grissom. Stupid lab employees, acting like they were 16.

It was time. She walked over to her bathroom, nervously running her hands through her hair and picked up the stick lying on the shelf next to the sink.

Negative.

She let out her breath slowly. She was safe. This time… she thought as she wiped away the solitary tear of disappointment that had escaped her tear duct and slid down her cheek.
