Chapter 1

"It's ok, I have finished now" Kate said, and walked out of the bathroom.

Sawyer frowned in confusion, one minute he could hear total silence, the next minute she was walking out of the bathroom, too happy for Sawyer's understanding.

"You can go in you know, I haven't planted a bomb in there" Kate said, smiling her widest smile. Sawyer would have questioned her well-being, but as it was, Sawyer was too desperate and if he wasn't careful, an unpleasant puddle would sit where he was standing.

He hurried inside the bathroom and whilst he was standing, looked around the bathroom for signs of anything different. The white tiles, where still in place, the room was still clean, everything had remained the same. Except one thing, the usually flipped down lid was upright and Sawyer ventured closer until the bin came closer, a white pregnancy test came into view with two pink lines on a square the size of a postage stamp. "What does all this crap mean?" Sawyer thought, rummaging through the bin even more until he eventually found a scrunched up leaflet. Sawyer needed his glasses to read the next bit, but he squinted hard enough to finally make out the words "Two pink linesPositive". The four words warmed him up almost as if a flame was burning inside him. "Son of a bitch" he growled hoarsely, hardly daring to take any of it in. He entered the Living Room so he could confront Kate.

He got to the living room, to find that it was empty with the front door wide open.

Tears pricked at the corner of Sawyer's eyes as he felt the same sense of hurt, that he did when his father murdered Sawyer's mother and then himself, whilst an eight year old Sawyer cowered under the bed. His sadness felt like an icy dagger piercing through his heart. He couldn't quite believe Kate had suddenly left him and failed to inform him of her pregnancy. Tears sprung to his blue-grey eyes as he thought of her beauty, her long brown hair loose in her face with her bright green eyes penetrating his gaze. The tears rolled down his cheeks, but he didn't care any more, as he crumpled against the wall and sobbed.

"Why did you leave me Freckles?" Sawyer said, tears falling thickly from his eyes as he shook with grief. As he cried, he couldn't stop thinking about Kate, as her beautiful green eyes penetrated his gaze. All he could think about was Kate, a constant voice just echoing in his ears, sounding almost like her whisper. He stood up abruptly and wiped away the tears angrily. All this time he had spent moping about her and he could be with her right now. There was no more time to waste, he had to go after her, and as he ran through the streets, looking for her, he could only hope that destiny could lead him to where she was.
