Marie Antoinette was the queen of France who is currently married to Louis XVI, king of France. The young couple got married at 14 years of age and waited six long years to have kids. Eventually they had two. They lived a very fortunate life aside from being under constant watch in Versailles. That often made her rebel, especially against her husband. Marie and Louis lived in a huge palace called Versailles. Life at Versailles was going ok, but Marie Antoinette knew that she was not happy. One day Louis XVI was with his good friend Robespierre. The king never gets to go out, so when he can he takes full advantage of it. He brought Robespierre back to Versailles; this was a huge deal because no one enters Versailles but royalty and staff. Marie Antoinette had heard that Louis brought someone home, so she went to go introduce herself, since she has no friends and living at Versailles can be very lonely. She walked through hallways and down many sets of stairs until she got to her husband and his friends.
"Louis, please introduce me to your guest."
"Ah, yes my dear, Marie this is my good friend Robespierre. He studied at the College of Louis-le-Grand in Paris and is a lawyer."
"Nice to meet you, I am Marie Antoinette. I live here in Versailles and as I am sure you already know I am the queen of France."
"Nice to meet you mad' am." They stared at each other for quite some time, until Louis XVI noticed and broke that up right away. Her heart started to beat rapidly, her palms were sweaty. That was a reaction she had never experienced before, even to her own husband. As the days went by she kept thinking about Robespierre.
One Sunday afternoon, Marie Antoinette just so happened to be walking by the front door at Versailles when there was a knock. It was Robespierre!
"Hello Robespierre, Louis is not home right now, but please do come in."
"Thank you Marie." He says as he walks into Versailles. "I am not here to stay very long, for I wasn't aware that my good friend Louis was not here."
"Its fine, you can stay here until he comes back. It gets very lonely here in Versailles."
He left soon after. Again, Marie started to feel the same way; her heart beating very fast and sweaty palms. Every time Louis XVI brought Robespierre to Versailles, Marie Antoinette Would stay with them. Even when he wasn't with Louis, she would make plans with him. After months of hanging out, someone at Versailles tells Louis XVI about Marie and Robespierre. He confronted his wife about it and she kept denying it. Out of anger and frustration, he sent them both to the guillotine. Marie was sent first, with Robespierre watching. She stood there thinking long and hard about what she did, but most importantly what she could do to get out of this situation. She realized, there was nothing she could do at this point. She stood in front of the guillotine and just as the sharp blade was about to fall down on her, she moves back and Robespierre pushes Louis XIV onto the guillotine. That was it. He was dead.
"What did we do?!" Marie Antoinette was freaking out.
Robespierre kept quiet. "How are we going to get away with this!?" She kept repeating herself. Well, she was still the queen, after all. Versailles would still have to follow her rules. Once Marie Antoinette broke the news, things were worse. They kept getting worse, until she re-married to Robespierre. He took over the throne and both of them make Versailles a friendly and better place to live. For once, she was finally happy and didn't have to pretend to be.
