Crack! The night sky brightened as lightning filled the sky. Rain and sirens added to the eerie ambiance. Above the city, the dark, large clouds collided like a long awaited battle. The thunder roared, the lightning struck, as the city lights extinguished like candles in the wind.

Outside houses, the excited and scared screams of children can be heard. Flashlights and candles dimly brighten up the homes. Silent prayers are sent, praying that this storm will soon be over. But this storm will only get worse.

The clouds continued their battle, lightning striking tall, dark structures in the night. A large, half built house gets struck, erupting into flames. Not long after the strike, the rain smothered the fire.

A small, rain-soaked cat wandered over towards the house. The cat looked down into a large puddle as lightning struck nearby. Through the reflection, the gray, blood-soaked cat could be seen. Quietly, the cat spoke to itself, with a low raspy voice, "What did I do... to deserve this?"

Limping over towards the house, slipping and hissing, the cat went inside a large pipe. "I'm sorry," the cat said, barely making a sound, "my darling..." The lonely cat slowly closed his eyes, drifting off into sleep, or worse. The last thing he saw and heard was a cat running over to him, screaming his name.

Author Note: Thank you for reading the prologue of my first story! I'm not much of a writer but I felt like writing something anyways. I'd appreciate if I could receive some feedback!
