Scully awakes to the sound of the phone ringing. She looks over to the alarm clock; it reads only 2:37 AM. She sighs and turns back over to go back to sleep, but the phone keeps ringing. Rolling her eyes, she gets out of bed and walks into the living room to the phone.

"Dana." She said answering.

"Scully, it's me." Mulder said on the other end. "Scully, something has happened. I am at the hospital."

"Mulder, are you ok? What happened?" Scully said worried.

"No, no, it's not me. It's.it's your mother. She was brought here 15 minutes ago." Mulder replied.

".Wh.what happened?" Scully said, sitting on the couch. Her face went pale.

"Listen, I will tell you the rest when you get here. Just come quick." Mulder said.

"I'll be right there." Scully said and quickly hung up. She ran in her room, threw some clothes on, grabbed her keys and ran out of the house.

10 minutes later.

A very worried Scully ran through the hospital doors and went searching for Mulder. Once she spotted him, she quickly ran to him.

"Scully, your mother was brought here because she had a stroke.. I, I'm sorry, Scully." Mulder said.

Tears started to form in Scully's eyes. ".Is she ok? Can I see her?" Scully asked, her voice shaky.

"She is right in there." Mulder said and pointed to the room next to him. "You want me to go in with you?"

".Umm.no, that's ok, I should.go in alone." Scully said and walked in quietly.

Scully looked at her mother on the bed. She was hooked up to a monitor, and had a tube down her throat. Scully sighed, closed her eyes, and then continued to walk to her mother's bedside. Her mother was asleep, looking peaceful; something that Scully saw very little of in her mother since she lost Melissa. There was another thing that didn't look the same about her mother, but Scully couldn't place it. Scully pulled a chair up to the bed, sat down, and took her mother's hand into her.

".Hi Mom. I know you can't hear me right now.but I can't lose you. You are the only one that I have left." Scully said between sobs. Scully layed her head on her mother's bedside.

Mulder walked quietly into the room. He walked over to Scully and rested a hand on her shoulder. She brought her head up and looked at him. Mulder looked at her tearstained face. The pain in her eyes made his heart break. Scully stood up and Mulder embraced her. He let her cry on his shoulder. They sat down on the floor, Mulder still holding her. "Shhh.it's going to be ok." Mulder whispered.

"No its not, Mulder. She is going to die, and you know it just as well as I do. I knew that this was going to happen sooner or later. She always had a problem that she would never tell me about, just because she didn't want to worry me. And now she is going to leave me, alone." She said angrily. She continued sobbing and then continued. "I don't want.I don't want to be alone." She said looking Mulder in the eyes.

"You wont." Mulder said, with a smile.

Scully rested her head on Mulder's shoulder once again. Her sobbing continues, but less violently that before. Eventually, Scully ended up crying herself to sleep. Mulder picked her up and put her on one of the beds that we open in the room. He pulled a chair up, sat down, and rested his head on the bedside and fell asleep with her.
