A/N: So, this is my first Cold Case story. Remember reviews are love. It's just a one- shot that came to me today.

You ever need anything, just say hey, and I'll be there.

Scotty Valens just kept playing the words he had said to his partner, Lilly Rush, earlier. God, she had looked so broken, just sitting there on her couch, when her mother had died. Once he had gotten in there, he had been relieved that he went to check on her.

Hey. Did you hear me? Hey.

Instantly he had understood what she said. She wanted him to come in. So, he did. He left the others and went in. He shot through the observation window and then shot the guy. Unfortunately, the guy had shot Lilly.

Scotty was pacing the waiting room, just waiting for news about Lilly. After about a half hour of pacing, he groaned and slumped down against a wall. He pulled his knees into his chest and banged his head against the wall.

Almost an hour later, a doctor came out and introduced himself as Dr. Vincent. As Lilly's doctor, he explained what had happened to her and how it had impacted her.

"Can we…I…Could I please see her?" Scotty asked quietly. Dr. Vincent bit his lip before responding.

"She's still asleep. She probably will be for a while, but yes. Only you, though." Dr. Vincent left the group.

Scotty took a deep breath in and then let it out. He walked into her room and sat down in the chair next to her bed. Taking her hand, he began to quietly talk to her.

John Stillman looked through the window of the room. Scotty had not left Lilly's bedside in two days, ever since he had been allowed to sit there. Stillman had expected that Scotty felt something for Lilly before and this just confirmed it.

Doctors came in her room and went, as did relatives and concerned friends. Her sister was no where to be seen, which was expected.

Lilly had still not woken up and it was truly killing Scotty. He was nervous, anxious, and aggressive. When a doctor came in for a check-in, Scotty would ask more questions than a foreign student in English class.

Until finally, she woke up. About 3 days after she was admitted. Scotty had been sent home for a shower, with the promise that he would be called when she woke up. True to his word, Nick called him.

Scotty must have broken all the traffic and driving rules on the book and most more than once. He arrived at the hospital 5 minutes after Nick called, normally a 20 minute drive.

Nick had shaken his head with a smile as he left Lilly's room and let Scotty enter.

"Hey Lil." Scotty said.

"Scotty." Lilly's eyes widened, making them look more beautiful than ever. Scotty smiled.

"You're awake. Thanks God." Scotty sat down in the chair and took her hand.

"I can leave in an hour." Lilly said. "But I can't work until next week."

"If I had my way, you wouldn't be working for at least a month." Scotty said.

"No, I'm going to be at the office all week. I'm gonna be so bored at home."

Scotty grinned. This was a typical Lilly attitude.

"No way. You had me really worried, Lil." Scotty said.

"I'm sorry." She whispered. He leaned down to kiss her forehead.

"Don't do it again." He half- joked. She nodded.

"I'm going to go back to sleep." She said. "Until I can leave in an hour."

Scotty nodded. She shut her eyes. "I love you, Lil."

She peeped one eye open. "I love you too Scotty."

And as her breathing became more even, Scotty leaned over and brushed a piece of hair away from her face.

"I meant what I said." He whispered quietly. "Just say hey and I'll be there."
