The star gate was discovered in 1945 but would not be realized until the first expedition to Abydos in 2395, this is a small one shot of what the Tau'ri could look like without the star gates discovery.
2397 years latter
Jack O'Neill walked down the dimly lit hall that passed for a street in Ceres space station. The gate way to the outer solar system. After coming back to Earth he had retired and left for Ceres, despite the growing resentment among the locals towards anyone born on Earth or Mars, a growing movement campaigning for greater freedoms for outer colonies most of whom were controlled by the United Nations of Earth or the Martian Confederation Republic, the Venus Commonwealth seemed to have no interest in the outer solar only trading when they needed resources.
Jack walked into the market place the ceilings were built up high as the apartment blocks were on both sides of the open space a small doorway was on the other side but because of the number of people walking around.
He brought the stuff he needed for his apartment and walked up the stair case, the halls were missing a light here and there. Doors were painted in a bright red but the concrete walls were plain he walked up to the street he lived in to find a group of men standing in a UN uniform waiting for him, the uniforms were white T-shirt, white pants and a white jacket with badges pinned to the side of the jacket.
"Colonel Jack O'Neill?" asked the one in the lead he had black hair that had been jelled into a smooth come over.
"Retired," Jack insisted as he walked to the side panel that flashed red, his hand had a chip surgically inserted and he waved over it. The chip sent a signal to the door to unlock it and he invited them into the room. They stepped into a living area, the far side had a glass window with a sliding door that went into a balcony. To the left was a small kitchen area against the wall with a doorway to the right that lead to a bedroom with a bathroom.
Jack put his boxes of stuff on the bench before turning back to the man "So what do you want?"
"My name is Major Samuel's. I work for General Hammond at Cheyenne mountain," he explained.
"I don't know anyone by that name."
"He replaced General West at the mountain. He said its important he wants you to return to Earth," said the Major.
"That would take a month to travel out there," said Jack realizing how long it must have taken for them to find him.
"He said its to do with the star gate."
Jack turned back to him knowing full well he had felt for the last year it wasn't over he had hoped Daniel Jackson would be fine on Abydos but high comm had no idea he was still alive. "Give me a few days to fix things up here."
"I'll leave my contact details on the coffee table," said the Major and Jack showed them out having no idea what the future held for him, sooner or latter the neighbors would come knocking though.
