Lily and James loved to argue. That's how it had always had been, and all of Hogwarts knew it.
You see, quarreling was their way of communication. This was how James got to know Lily like the back of his hand, and this was how Lily got to get her stress out each day. Even if it was about the stupidest of things, these two would not stop arguing. And that was the case for today.
Lily Evans walked through the portrait hole, fuming and walking as if she was irritated. Students who were in the common room looked over for a few moments, wondering who had walked through the hole in such an angry fashion. Once they had realized who it was, they quickly gathered up their things and headed to their respected dormitories, knowing that another fight was in store.
Soon enough, as everyone had predicted, James Potter had entered the scene, smirking slightly.
"I'm telling you Lily flower, you only have two faces." James said, knowing fully well what he was getting himself into.
Lily rolled her eyes and sighed. He just wasn't going to let it go.
"No I don't, James. I have more than two facial expressions. You just haven't seen them."
"No, that's where you're wrong. I see you everyday, and the only faces I see you with are when you're angry at me, like now, and when you're very calm and serene, like when you're with Alana and Saph or doing homework." James said, smirking.
Growing angry, Lily could feel her face turning red. The one thing she hated more than anything was when she'd tell people one thing, but they'd disagree with her about it no matter what, even if she knew she was right and could prove it.
"For the last time, James, I have more than two faces."
James walked closer to her, and looked down at her face. You see, James was about a foot taller than her, so leaning over her and looking down at her was no problem for him.
However, Lily had a problem with that. She wasn't particularly fond of being looked down upon, especially by James. She glared up at him, but it seemed to have no effect on James. He just continued to smile.
"Prove it." He said, looking directly into her emerald green eyes.
Normally, Lily wouldn't look back and just walk away, but this time, Lily had an intensity that made her want to prove him wrong. She stood up on her tiptoes, bringing their noses into touching range.
"Make me." She said, then going back to standing on her feet.
James only smirked.
"If you insist." He said, leaning back so he wasn't looking down at her as much. There was more room between the two now.
Thinking that he wasn't going to do anything, Lily grinned as if she was right and he was wrong.
"That's what I thou—"
But in the middle of her sentence, James sent his lips crashing down upon hers. At first, Lily was stunned, not really registering what he was doing. But after a few moments, Lily finally realized what he was doing. Rather than pulling away, she relaxed into the kiss and let him continue on with his actions.
After a few seconds, James broke the kiss and smiled at her. Lily now had a happy look on her face, not an infuriating one or a serene one. Her facial expression was one of satisfaction and pleasure, with a little stun in there as well.
Rather than basking in the joy of the kiss, Lily instead changed her face and grinned at him with content.
"See, I told you I had more than two faces."
