Ted silently stared in amusement at the wound on her bare stomach. She had pulled up her elegant, low cut, black top to pull out the shard of glass that had got stuck in her side, and he stared as the patch of skin slowly mended itself together, not leaving a trace of the wound behind, or a scar, for that matter.
Honestly, it still amazed him to watch her heal, to see the skin mend together, regardless of how fatal the injury is. He remembered her telling him that she was even cut open when she had ended up in the morgue during her senior year of high school.
She really didn't elaborate on the issue, just told him that she had gotten into a fight with someone at a bonfire and the next thing she knew she was waking up in the morgue with a branch stuck in her brain, and it wasn't until it was out that her body started to heal.
It didn't take a genius to figure out that the boy had probably tried to rape her and she had fallen on a branch when he had pushed her on the ground.
Honestly, it took everything in him not to hunt the boy down and give him a slow and merciless death, and he supposed the only thing that really stopped him was that Claire had took matters into her own hands and ruined his football career.
And a part of him wonders if she felt pain, even if it's only for a minor second, and he remembered his former friend's intentions for her.
Kill her over and over again.
Her emerald green eyes met his, noting the far off look on his face, and it was clearly obvious that he was thinking about something, "Ted?"
"Do you feel pain?" He questioned softly as he raised a hand to the unblemished skin on her stomach, running his coarse fingertips across the smooth skin, his dark eyes silently rising to meet her emerald green ones.
Kindness from Ted was quite rare, not like he was mean towards her or anything; he usually saved all of his anger towards people who tried to hurt her.
Her lips curled into a slight half smile, almost as if she was considering her boyfriend's question for a moment, wondering if she should tell him.
If anyone found out, like scientist, or someone like Dr. Gallo, they would probably torture her even more, knowing that she couldn't feel pain.
But she trusts Ted.
"At first," She admitted softly, looking up into his brown eyes, "But after a couple of seconds the pain goes away."
Ted nodded slightly before cupping her face in his hand and pressing a soft kiss against her cherry red lips.
Maybe she didn't need someone to protect her from bullets and knives, but that didn't necessarily mean she couldn't feel the pain of someone betraying her.
And he would honestly kill whoever causes her pain of any type, whether it's physical or emotional pain.
