Be Careful What You Wish For
He wasn't jealous. Ok maybe a little. It wasn't so much that he wanted to have ghost powers for himself, though that would definitely the coolest thing ever. But more for the purpose of not being so useless.
He knows they'd never say anything to him. The three of them do everything together, so they know each other's strengths and weaknesses. Each one of them makes up for what the other lacks, that's why they make such an effective team. But lately, he's been feeling slightly inferior. Like he's being left behind. Like he can't keep up. Like a burden.
He knows they'd never see it like that. But that doesn't mean he doesn't notice the skill gap between them. He's always the one to contribute the least when actually catching the Ghost. He's not as brave or as strong as Danny and he's not as athletic or as clever as Sam, heck, he can't even hold the thermos properly without dropping it and causing a disaster. Talk about embarrassing. He always gets the short end of the stick.
Of course he doesn't let them know, they'd try to comfort him and tell him it's not true but he knows it'd be a lie. The only time he's ever been the star of the show was when they fought Technus, and that was only because he's a technology ghost. Any other ghost and he'd only be in the way. He's always trying to cover up his shortcomings with false bravado and corny humor, but that can only get him so far.
He hates being so incompetent. They shouldn't have to shoulder his dead weight all the time. He tries to participate more, shoot a weapon, catch the ghost. However more often than not he ends up being the distraction. He's angry at himself for his own worthlessness. Why can't he be more like them? Why can't he try harder? Why can't he become stronger? Braver? Faster?
He kicks down the theater seat in frustration. To top it off his movie got sold out and now he has to watch a girly pony movie. He sighs, nobody expects anything of him. They always underestimate him. Even the ghosts underestimate him for crying out loud! Nobody takes him seriously, though that's partly his fault for always being the funny man. But is that all he's destined to be? Comic relief? A joke? Will he always be in their shadow?
No! That's not how friends should be!It's not fair that no matter how hard he tries, no matter how enthusiastic he is, he can't ever have his moment in the spotlight. Danny gets to have all the fun all the time while he's stuck doing the dirty work. That's so unfair!
"Man, sometimes I wish I had ghost powers too"
"So you have wished it, so shall it be"

Everyone talks about Danny's feelings and even Sam's, but nobody talks about Tucker all that much. The boy deserves some attention, that's why I think that his initial jealousy towards Danny's powers stemmed more from his feelings of powerlessness than just wanting ghost powers to have fun.
He'd be the type to make jokes about his mistakes to cover up how much it actually affects him. And the only reason he'd even make that wish in the first place was out of annoyance at his situation after it's been building up over time. He didn't necessarily mean it but because of Desiree's magic, it takes the slightest bit of negative feelings and amplifies them. That's why Tucker was acting like such a jerk up until he moment the ghost was extracted.
