Hello! I'm going to be rewriting this story in hope to actually fix this story up. There are several mistakes but i'll still try to write it to the best of my ability.

This is chapter 1!

Disclaimer: I don't own Merlin, because if I did, it would still be on.

A/N: WARNING! There are bullying and violent scenes ahead, and quite crude language.

Chapter 1:

"Hey Fag!" a snide shout sounded across the courtyard. The loud cat calls of the wild boys shouted out, painfully obvious to a small boy of 14 years old. It was the first year at 10th form and Merlin (a certain small 14 year old) already knew it was a dump of a place and that he hated it with his very existence.

Merlin, from the very beginning of his life, had been known to not be able to keep any secrets for his life; so, when the time came where Merlin realized he liked men more than women-it was safe to say he wasn't in the closet long. Although-except for his close friends and family-people didn't take it well, plus it didn't help that Merlin's 'preferences' were against their religion.

And due to Merlin's love interests he had gained a following-a loose sense of the words-honestly it was more like a bunch of parasites then a gathering.

"Come here pussy! I want to giver you a kiss!" ah, there was Merlin's favorite leech. Arthur freakin' Pendragon, son of a billionaire, and one of the worst bullies Merlin had ever had before. You see Arthur went out of his way to purposely make your life hell, and not a normal type of bully way. With money came power, and Arthur, he had money.

"Merlin! Over here!" Merlin snapped over to see his two best friends ever: Gwaine and Gwen. Even though he got their names mixed up, the two G's still loved him, and Merlin couldn't help but love them back. Gwaine was a year older than Merlin, he was fifteen, and was known for being impossibly lazy. He was an enthusiastic person, one who never did his homework, snuck drinks from his father, and stole food from Merlin that Gwen claimed Merlin needed. Gwen on the other hand was an unconventional women. She appeared dainty and calm, but truly she was a feisty girl who was responsible and respectable, although she broke the rules when necessary. Her big chocolate eyes held a strong fire, that Merlin knew not to cross.

"Hey." Merlin offered lamely. Unlike everyone else, his accent was distinctly Irish. When Merlin had first came out of the closet the bullying had been worse at his home town then his new life at England. His mother actually fearing for his life, after many detailed death threats, forced Merlin to move in with his great Uncle. Which wasn't to bad, there was only two people who really liked him back home, his childhood friend Will and his mother.

"Come on!" We'll be late." Gwen spoke in a threatening voice, mostly pointed towards a certain shaggy haired brunette next to Merlin. Merlin watched as Gwen stood up and tugged Gwaine and Merlin war from the shouts across the courtyard.

"I swear!" Gwaine snapped his head around to glare at the irresponsible teenagers flocking around each other.

"Just ignore them, their just big bullies." Gwen spoke evenly, Merlin could tell the fire within her was close to bursting. Despite the yells, and the tension between his friends angered by the cat calls, he couldn't help but smile by the fact he knew he had the best friends ever.

Merlin walked down the steps of his school and huffed after school ended. Gwaine walked into pace with Merlin, "So, you doing your homework tonight?" Gwaine asked curiously. His eyebrow raising, strongly hinting that he himself was going to try and get a certain someone's homework. Merlin could only laugh at how typical this was of Gwaine.

"Yes Gwaine, you can copy." The brunette laughed happily, and did a small jig.

"Thanks Merlin! I seriously owe you!" Merlin nodded as he and Gwaine split paths. Merlin continued walking down the path to his new home.

Suddenly, Merlin's stomach twisted in an uncomfortable way, one that made merlin want to puke. The raven haired boy turned to look around him, feeling as if he was being watched, no one was around him.

A rumbling engine was heard. Merlin turned to see a car, oh no, a car he recognized. That car belonged to one Arthur Pendragon, the same one who could make ones life hell. The Prat himself. Merlin continued to walk, hoping with all his might that they would pass on by and find a new victim to torture, but as his stomach gave another twist he knew that was dreadfully wrong. They never missed their daily beat-the-hell-out-of-Merlin. He pulled up his hood and hugged himself for comfort. It was starting to become hard to hide his bruises now a days; sooner or later uncle Gauis would find out, and Merlin couldn't let that happen! not after his mother spent so much money to get him here.

and much to Merlin's despair, the car pulled to a stop next to him.

"Hey idiot!" great, the infamous Arthur was gracing Merlin with his royal presence. Merlin felt he could die, he could almost feel a panic attack rising within his throat, clogging his precious air ways; Oh why couldn't Gwaine and Merlin be neighbors?

Merlin turned to see Arthur had gained more agonies than usual. Ah! joined with Cendred. The other bully that plagued Merlin's daily life. As if life couldn't get any better!

"so fag! What's it like to take it up in the arse!?" Merlin tried to ignore the jibes, he really did, but perhaps everything had just been building up. Perhaps Merlin was just so done, so sick of these bullies, that he ignored his common sense for once.

"You should know Prat!" Merlin jeered back at the older blond. The laughter of the bullies instantly came to a stop. Like a sickening snap, the world became quiet, as if baiting it's breath.

"Excuse me?" Arthur gave Merlin a death glare, this could not end well. There was a silent stare down between Merlin and Arthur for a second-just one-and it appeared as if Arthur was going to pull out of the fight, but then faster than the guilt had appeared, the anger resurfaced.

"Get him." Arthur spoke calmly, simply gazing at Merlin with steady eyes.

Time to run.

Merlin ran, ran as fast as his long legs could possible go, and believe me that was fast, Merlin was built to be a runner; but when your running against the varsity football team, nothing is fast enough. He was tackled down faster than a noise could escape his mouth.

And the pain began.

Kicks. Punches. Smacks. Slaps. Everything, wailed against Merlin's frail body, and all Merlin could do was curl in on himself, his last line of defense. He was laying in a fetal position and trying to block his face when he was suddenly picked up. Someone said something and everyone started to laugh, what was it?

"Sto-" Merlin's voice cut off when another punch crashed into his jaw, causing a bobble head affect inside Merlin's head. The boys (one holding onto his armpits, another his legs) began to win Merlin left and right.

"Wait! Put me down! Stop!" Merlin screamed in hope, for once, that his bullies would listen. The fear and anxiety building up within Merlin, casing him to see black dots dance across his vision.

"He wants down does he!" a voice shouted in a humorous tone, "Well we better put him down!" another shout, fear coursed through Merlin's veins as he thrashed in his hold.

Then he was let go.

Although instead of hitting the ground, he kept falling...and falling...and falling.

Until he smacked against the hard surface, Merlin heard a loud crack and could almost feel his body bounce back up from the impact. He could hear the males above laughing happily at the damage they had done, their voices getting more distant as the walked off. Merlin slowly opened his eyes, surprised by the little pain he felt within his body.

That was when he realized the tears were falling, he couldn't stop them, and holy shit, something hurt, something hurt real bad, something didn't feel right. Merlin turned his head slightly, he was in some sort of ditch. He had to get home! Gauis would worry! Although the pain was excruciating, Merlin still made an attempt to get up...but couldn't.

Why couldn't he move! Merlin felt the tears to continue spilling over his eyes, frustrated by how useless he felt he snapped them shut. The hot tears ran down his face and Merlin realized how tired he was-and cold! Maybe, he'd take a quick nap, something to take his mind of the pain, surely the pain would be gone by the time he'd wake up.

WhenMerlin woke up, he realized his pain had been relieved. Merlin stood up and with a confident smile gazed down at himself to see no new black splotches marring his skin, heck there was none at all.

"Hello Merlon." Merlin jumped backwards in shock to see an unknown man had a sad look scrawled over his face, his golden eyes gazing at Merlin in an almost remorseful way-wait! Golden!?

"I am sorry to inform you Merlin, but you died today." Merlin stumbled backwards, feeling as if cotton had been placed over his ears.

"What? No! That's impossible! I-I'm right here." Merlin gestured to himself. the Man with a long golden braid and golden eyes shook his head.

"No, unfortunately, you broke your spine from that drop and lost to much blood." he pointed to something behind Merlin. Merlin quickly snapped around to see what this man was talking about.

There he was, his body pale, his eyes closed, blood surrounding him, making the dark brown dirt to become a rustic colored mud. His body was twisted unbelievably, and Merlin could actually see a little bit of white bone sticking out of his deformed back.

"No...this can't be true..." Merlin mumbled to himself as he fell to his knees next to his own body. he brush a little of his own black hair away from his pale face, this wasn't right.

"Lucky for us, no one has found you yet." Merlin turned to glare at the man before him.

"Lucky!?" he shouted out, how was this lucky!? He was Dead!

"yes lucky, because now you get a second chance." Merlin slowly rose up from his body to confront the man.

"a second chance?" the man's sad face turned upside down with an amazing speed. His smile seemed to radiate brightness.

"yes, you get to be a guardian angel!" he smiled happily, slapping his hands as if Merlin had just been presented with a reward, and perhaps he just had.

Merlin was speechless (which in itself was a miracle).

"okay, see there's a few rules you need to follow before though." the man lifted up a finger.

"number one: you must keep your target safe at all times," he lifted another finger," number two: you get special abilities," he smiled happily with a knowing look on his face, "nu,her three: you have wings, you have to do something to hide them, we don't help you."

"Rule number four: you have no pulse, so find a way to keep that a secret. Finally! rule number five: you can only tell face people about what you are, so choose wisely." he smiled and spun around clapping his hands as he did so.

"Oh! And you don't get a halo unless you finish your mission, and don't age good luck!" Merlin snapped out of his daze.

"Wait! Who do i have to protect!?" A big light landed on the man, almost like a spotlight had finally found him.

"In your words: Protect the Prat." then with a flash he was gone.

Maybe this wasn't a reward after all.

And that was it, the first chapter of the re write, what did you guys think? please review!
