This is Gundam SEED from Cagalli's point of view. I thought this would be an interesting side to the story.

Cagalli's Musings: Chapter 1
Cagalli's amber eyes widened as she saw the Aegis fighting the Strike. She knew that mobile suit; it was him.
It was only a few days after her Skygrasper had been shot down on an island. It was that day that she met the pilot of the Aegis. His name was Athrun and Cagalli could not put her finger on what it was about him.
He should have killed her that day. She had shot him, tried to take his gun and then thought about killing him. But why would he let her live? She shot him twice and he let her live! He is a soldier of ZAFT! He was one of the people responsible for the attack on Heliopolis!
What are the chances we'd meet again in this war? She thought as she watched the ongoing battle. The Aegis and the Strike were fighting fiercely, dancing in the sky as if the pilots had choreographed it. Maybe she was imagining it, but she could swear the pilots seemed to have chemistry. Kira couldn't know Athrun, how could he?
She felt a tinge in her chest when she thought of Kira killing him. She did not understand why she felt this way; after all, he is Kira's enemy. Enemy aside, Andrew Waltfeld's words still lingered in her mind. "So how do you determine the winners and the losers? When all of your enemies are destroyed?"
"My mother was on Junius Seven…" Athrun had told her, his green eyes filled with sadness. Cagalli wondered if he fought for revenge or to really protect the innocent. Either way, she had a feeling his mother was his reason for fighting.
Why do I care about him anyway? He's just a ZAFT soldier. She thought. It was getting quite annoying. She hardly knew him at all. This was the boy who lingered over her with a knife about to cut her throat. That feral look in his eyes was so terrifying she cringed at the memory of it.
Cagalli sighed and leaned against the wall, turning her back on the screen. She had seen enough fighting for a while. She knew the ship was heading for Orb; after all, they were heavily damaged and right outside of Orb's territory. She knew she was going to be in trouble once they docked.
Cagalli hadn't been truthful with anyone on the ship. The only one who knew who she was Cagalli Yula Athha was Kisaka. She stumbled through the hallway as the ship rocked, Kisaka at her heels. She was going to the bridge, she needed to do something!
