I climbed onto the diving block, my heart beating in anticipation of what was happening.

"Go Autumn!" I heard my best friend Trinity shout. I smiled. Then I heard the blare of the horn, signaling the start of the race. I dove. I felt my body enter the water and I started swimming, I saw, felt, and heard nothing but the water. I was one with the water. As I swam down the lane I thought, I got this. I can do this. No problem. I saw the block coming closer and closer. I knew was almost there. I touched the block just before the other swimmers. I had won. The horn blared once again signaling the end of the race. When I got out of the water I was surrounded by my friends and family.

"You did it, Autumn 1st place!" Trinity congratulated me. I always loved winning and to win my last race of the season was even more exciting. A week later I was sitting on my couch staring into space.

"I'm bored." I said to no one in particular. There was nothing to do now that swim season was over. Then I got an idea.

"Mom, can Trinity come over?" I asked.

"Of course honey, Trinity's always welcome here." I got up off the couch and called Trinity and invited her over. She said yes and since she lived next door, she was at my house in a matter of minutes.

"OMG! Autumn. I just got the best idea ever." She said.

"What?" I asked cautiously. Sometimes Trinity's ideas tended to go very awry. Very, very awry. I shuddered at the thought of the time she thought it was a good idea to have a horror movie marathon. I couldn't sleep for a week.

"Oh, Come on. Have a little faith in me." She said upon seeing my face.

"Okay. Seriously what's your idea?" I asked her.

"We should go on a camping trip. We could go out to Mako Island and everything." She said.

"That sounds pretty cool. Let's ask" I said. It actually sounded like one of her better ideas. So we asked my mom she said it was fine with her if it was fine with Trinity's mom. We called her mom and she said it was fine, so we decided to go next weekend. Before we knew it we were in a boat on our way to Mako. My dad was taking us there. Once we arrived my dad helped us unload and set up.

"Now you two be careful, alright?" He said as he finished helping us pitch our tent.

"Always dad." I told him. We walked out to where he had docked the boat and he left. We watched him until we could no longer see him, then we went exploring. We were hiking and when we had to jump over a hole, I miscalculated and fell in.

"AUTUMN!" I heard Trinity scream. Thud. I landed on my butt. I stood up wiping my butt and was trying to figure out how to get back up when I heard another thud, I looked and there was Trinity.

I turned around to see Trinity standing there wiping her butt off, smiling.

"Wow, that hurt." She said.

"Trinity! What are you doing down here!" I exclaimed.

"Trying to make sure you're okay silly." She said it like it was the most obvious thing ever.

"I know that, but now we are stuck here with no way to get back up." I replied.

"Oh. I didn't think about that." she said sincerely. I shook my head.

"That's alright. Did you at least bring a flashlight?" I asked her.

"Yup." She said as she shined it around stopping when she found an opening. We looked at each other.

"Let's go." I said. We followed the path until we came to this big cave with a pool type thing in it.

"Hold my stuff I'm going to see if we can get out this way." I told her.

"How?" Trinity asked.

"Well, I'm going to dive and look around under the water" I explained.

"Ok. Be careful." She said.

"Always" I replied. Then I dove. Soon I was underwater and swimming towards an opening in the formation of the rock. I figured it was about a twenty or thirty second swim to the outside. I went back to Trinity who was pacing back and forth.

"Alright it is about a twenty or thirty second swim. We will have to leave our stuff here and come back for it with a rope tomorrow. Wait why are you pacing?" I said.

"Because we are in a volcano." She said with a little nervousness to her voice.

"Yeah. A very dormant volcano" I said.

"Oh." She replied as she put our stuff down and jumped in. We just kind of floated there for a few minutes, but during that few minutes the full moon came over and created a kind of a bubbly sensation. Water was rising in the air. I had never seen anything like it before. I looked at Trinity and nodded. We each took a deep breath ducking underwater and swimming until we came to the outside of the volcano. Then we swam to shore and headed back to our campsite. After dinner, we crawled into our sleeping bags.

"What do you think that was earlier in the pool?" I asked Trinity, but she was already asleep. The next morning we packed up our camping supplies and met my dad on the beach.

"How was your night girls?" He asked us as he helped to load our supplies into the boat.

"It was fine, Uncle Lewis." Trinity told him. Our parents were best friends and had been since high school so we called them Aunt and Uncle. My parents were Aunt Cleo and Uncle Lewis and her parents were Aunt Bella and Uncle Will. We also had two other 'aunts' and 'uncles'. Aunt Emma and Uncle Ashton and Aunt Rikki and Uncle Zane.

"That's good" He said. He started the boat and we headed back to the mainland.

"Did you girls do any exploring?" He asked us. We nodded and told him about the exploring we had done, although neither of us mentioned the moon pool.
