I ask you, is the world a good place? Just the way it is? There will always be evil here. It's inherent in human beings and in their very nature. Cruelty to the species weeds out the weak and makes the survivors stronger. But I digress. Look again at the earth. Is it a kind place? Do we treat our poor and our orphans humanely? Is there one person in the world who could stand up and say, honestly, I am a good person, and have never wished harm against my fellow man?
No.
There will never be one completely good person, anywhere, because of who we are and what the world has made us. Inside of everyone is a dark seed in the heart that, if nurtured, can grow with such potential, such promise. But we, being human, shove them away and bury them. It is human nature to fear its own evil, and deny it, despite the fact that it flourishes in such hypocrisy. Inside ourselves are the seeds of greatness, and we turn them away out of fear. Who knows what the world could be, if that very gloom was accepted and cherished, instead of hated?
Look at the world. This is the place where a man will leave his wife upon discovering a difference that should have been celebrated. This is the place where their child is shunted from orphanage to orphanage, never knowing what family should be. This is the place that unwittingly fosters the very malfeasance that it wishes so dearly to prevent. Have I a heart? I realize the hypocrisy for what it is, and uncover it. I am one of the few with the courage to see the truth.
And for that I am hated.
Derided.
I, the savior of humanity!
Again, it is the nature of the weak to mock the strong. And I am the strongest.
They scoff at what they cannot understand.
My morals, my code, is anathema to them, for they are the hypocrites and afraid to see what they could so easily become. Power is a drug to some and a shock terror for others, but I see it for exactly what it is. The method of controlling others, and making the world into a better place. If everyone were to see things as I do, unclouded, without bias, what a kingdom would result! O, that it were so. But once more the shackles of timidity and fear hold them back.
So it is I, the strongest of the strong, who must show them:
The darkness is nothing to dread. It is intrinsic.
No.
