"Irene, Ernest!"

A woman called from deck. The woman,my momma, was wearing her beautiful red silk fashion dress. I grabbed my brother off the rail and ran to her.

"Yes, momma?"

"I told you don't call me that."

I grunted then responded, "Yes, Miss Bird?"

"Go to the room and wash up. Then, you two shall accompany me to a cinema."

I almost hugged her then and there. "Yes, Madame."

I ran with my brother to the room. We had been placed away from mamma because of... Reasons. As we ran, he tugged my arm and wouldn't move.

"What now?" he got close to my ear and whispered, "Do the magic."

I checked both ways to make sure no one came. Then, in my hand I conjured up a small ball of water. It was so stable, you could mistake it for glass.

"I bet the boat can't do that." my brother remarked. For an eight year old like me, doing this was easy. And, it was easier to impress my six year old brother. I repressed it and made it disappear. I grabbed his hand and led him to a place where I heard water running. As I looked left, a pool of water rushed toward us. Quicker than lightening, I grabbed my brother up and ran all the way to the gate. A group of children and women had piled up and was blocked by a gate and the man locking the gate.

"Let my baby out!" screamed a woman. The man had difficulty keeping it closed before we burst at it. The man was crushed.

"Inene," said my brother," where's mama?"

I didn't know and didn't care. The woman could drown for all I cared. I needed to get him to safety.

"ALL WOMEN AND CHILDREN TO STARBOARD!" a man yelled.

I chased to the sound of the yelling. A man stopped me.

"Ma'me, give me your son."

"This is ma brother, and you ain't havin him!" as I leaped it the boat with him still in my lap, the boat was filled. They dropped us.

Hours later, we reached land. My brother shivered with cold and fear. And I shook thinking I caused it. Just one little water ball tugged all that water to us.

I whispered to him,

"I am so sorry."
