This is a few months after Dick goes to live at Wayne Manor so hes about 8. I don't know how much of this is accurate but meh.

Disclaimer: yeah, I don't own Young Justice or any of it's characters. I don't own much at all, now that I think about it.

"Asterous." Is romani

OooooooooooO

Bruce had just come home to the manor from a very long day at work and was exhausted.

Over the past week 5 villains had escaped from Archam. Whenever Batman wasn't busy running around the streets of Gotham tracking down Archam escapees, Bruce Wayne was occupied organising charity events, in meetings spendingtime with his new ward (the last he admittedly should have done more of). He hadn't slept in days and had only found time to eat when Alfred had 'gently persuaded' (read forced) him too.

He made his way to his room, it was late and the other two occupants of the house were most likely already asleep.

Or so he thought. As soon as he had put his briefcase down and changed into a tank top and some sweats he heard someone moving in the hall. Then, there was a small knock on his door.

He moved to open it and he saw his ward stood there, with tearful eyes, clutchig his Batman plushie (Clark's idea). Bruce crouched down so he was at the boy's level and ruffled his hair.

"Hey, Dick, what's up?" He still wasn't very good at the parenting thing but Richard didn't seem to mind. When the elder spoke Dick just looked at him confused, still struggling with English, so Bruce decided the easiest thing to do was to just pull him into a hug.

Both of them were quite tense at first but soon relaxed. The acrobat eventually bought his small, but surprisingly muscular, arms up around Bruce's neck and buried his tear-stained face in his adopted farthers shoulder.

"Thank you, Daddy..."

Bruce's eyes widened then. Since he decided that the boy would be the latest occupant of Wayne Manor, he had been learning Romani as Richard learns English. Teaching each other and gaining trust. Although he didn't know much, he did understand what Dick had said. He felt butterflies in his stomach and his heart soared.

Dick had called him daddy. Daddy. Bruce hugged hum closer.

Of course he had hoped that some day... maybe he could become Dick's new family. He knew that he could never replace the one that he had lost. However, he hadn't expected the boy to trust him so easily, not after what had happened. Bruce supposed the boy was just fairly trusting by nature. He had the amazing ability to make everyone he meets fall for him.

Once Dick had calmed down a little, Bruce lifted him up, still holding him close. He walked oved to the bed and sat down gently. He began gently moving his fingers through the acrobats dark hair and Bruce realised it would need to be cut soon.

"You wanna tell me what's up?" Bruce said quiely.

"Y-yeah..." Dick hiccuped in his still heavily accented voice.

"Was it that same dream again?" Bruce prompted when Dick didn't say anything else. Bruce knew Dick had been plagued with terrible nightmares since the incident. He had them every night and it had always been the same. Untill now.

"Kinda...you fell... you f-fell with them..." Dick went quiet again and grip on Bruce tightened as he spoke.

Bruceshifted so that both of them were laying on his bed and he pulled the covers on them and continued to stroke his hair untill he fell asleep.

Bruce knew it would be rough for a while. But he also believed the last Grayson was strong enough to get through it. He would probably be stronger for it too, even though Dickdefinitely wouldn't believe that right now.

In the morning, Alfred would somehow know Dick had had a rough night and would make him whatever he wanted for breakfast. Later, he would make chocolate chip cookies and let him have as many as he wanted. It had become a tradition of sorts.

There family was an unusual one but it worked. . . sort of.
