For SasuSaku month. It's for the prompt "birthday" under week 4 "Special Occasion"

The best gift ever
Sasuke poked the still body with his foot; the cadaver didn't move. His mission was complete. Sasuke removed his ANBU mask, cooling his sweating face. Swiftly, he jumped out of the two story mansion as guards started banging the door.
Sasuke tree-jumped about three miles away towards his camp. There at the base of the tent was a messenger hawk, patiently waiting for him. Sasuke disregarded the hawk and entered his tent. He knew who sent the message and what it was about. It was his wife urging him to come home at this very moment.
Sakura, you can wait, he mentally told her. That must have been the fiftieth message she sent so far. Why is she sending him so many messages anyways? She knew he was going to be gone on a mission that would take about a year, so rushing him home was stupid. Whatever it is she was calling him for, it better be worth it.
The next morning, Sasuke packed his supplies and began the long trek home. He counted the days and realized today was his birthday. He remembered Sakura's messages begging him to be home by this day. Sasuke sincerely hoped she was not planning a party. He'd much rather collapse into their soft bed, the scent of Sakura's hair lulling him to sleep. The last thing he needed was a social gathering to keep him up all night.
The journey home was boring. He didn't run into rowdy travelers, puny thieves, or enemy ninja at all. He even thought of lighting some trees with a fire jutsu and put it out again just to give it some highlight. When he arrived at the village, the sun was already setting. He identified himself to the two gate guards then quickly delivered a mission report before walking home.
The moment he entered the living room, Sakura was sitting on the couch, reading through a very large medical text book. He noticed her hair had grown longer; it reached halfway down her back. Last time he saw her, her pink hair only reached past her shoulders.
"Welcome home, Sasuke-kun," she greeted, giving him a warm welcome kiss.
He kissed her back earnestly. "There had better be a good reason for you to call me home so urgently," he growled against her lips, his hands at her waist.
"A very, very good reason." She pulled away, removing the ANBU armor and hanging the pieces on a coat rack. "Wipe your face, you might scare him." The she turned and left the room.
Him?
A few moments later, Sakura reappeared in the living room, carrying a blue bundle in her arms. Sasuke could not stop the widening of his eyes.
"Sasuke-kun, meet Miharu." Gently, Sakura placed the little baby in Sasuke's gloved hands. At the sight of him, Miharu gave a gurgly laugh. For a long time, Sasuke stared at the baby with a head of dark hair and happy green eyes.
"How? When?"
"I'm sure it was one of those few nights before you left." Sakura linked her arm in the crook of his and leaned her head against his shoulder. "He was born three months ago, that's why I sent you so many letters than. Since it looked like you wouldn't come, I urged you to come home hopefully by today." She closed her eyes. "Happy birthday, Sasuke-kun."
"You should have told me," he said before placing his lips on the top of her head, though he was mentally kicking himself right now. He had ignored all of Sakura's letters asking him to come home, when she had been all alone, pregnant, than later taking care of their defenseless child.
"But I wanted Miharu to be a surprise."
He snorted; typical Sakura. "Thank you," Sasuke said, pressing his lips to hers, "for the best present ever."
A bit cliche.
Two fics in one day? Whoo, I'm on a roll!
